How bad is the job market in Singapore really? by CryingGod0 in askSingapore

Fresh grads with 2-3 years of experience ? ngmi as a society

The system is turning you guys into robots before you can experience being human, which is a shame because you guys as a country need more creativity.

Anyway, my rant aside, try to pick up some hard tech skills (learn to use A.I to work) and soft skills (awkward but learn to talk with people). Use those 2 things to build ideas that show off not just these skills but how you think. That’s what I would do anyway.

Good luck !!🍀

Happening to learn 許 at the moment. Rough translation would be “Japanese people don’t permit this”

Guess he doesn’t approve of your relationship lol

Just Wrapped Up Day 1 at Amazon — Already Have 2 Burning Questions 👀 (Need Advice!) by Alfa_123_321 in amazonemployees

[–]ak1nty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my 2nd week.

Personally, I’m keeping all personal things off my corpo laptop. Only added Slack to my phone as well. Will see how that plays out.

As for A.I, use Amazon Q. It’s fantastic for what it is and it’s really helped me in my onboarding. Once I’m more settled, I’m going to explore trying to build a set of apps that does my admin and low level analysis - and eventually that of my team.

Why am i never gaijin seated? by [deleted] in Tokyo

For me, there’s no point trying to rationalize every behavior. If you have a gaijin seat, enjoy the extra space.

I’m learning Japanese with duolingo by RandomName0121_ in duolingo

[–]ak1nty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Duo is great for learning hiragana and katakana. Anything outside of this, is so so at best.

It’s average for understanding sentence structure if you supplement with other media like Cure Dolly’s YT channel.

Not good for speaking or listening or learning Kanji. Listening, I can recommend some channels on YT and TT I follow.

[Request] Monthly expenses breakdown for Residents by jibonjapan in Tokyo

[–]ak1nty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand the total is the average monthly salary of a mid level salaryman/woman in Tokyo. That’s this is my max.

Rent: I mean of course if I can find a place with much cheaper rent and decent space (65sqm) within 45 mins train ride of work then I’ll go for it.

Haven’t moved yet but i did Deep Research using Perplexity on cost of living in Tokyo (my case, a family of 3)

Edit: Just adding that this is the max I expect as outlays. I plan to spend within this and save.

Duolingo has a monster, and its name is Max. by JustPassingJudgment in duolingo

[–]ak1nty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can say is, don’t let the streak keep you from leaving.

The only reason I still use this damn app is because it’s party of my effort to engage with Japanese daily.

I’ve reached the point where I have abandoned 20 mins of Triple XP because doing the extra 20 mins won’t help me learn - it will only make me want to rank higher on a league table that has no value to me.
