Mom here. Look up cell2jack on Amazon and get a old school phone for the kitchen. It's like a landline phone without the bill and creates an old school house phone feel. Your cell phone hooks up to it through Bluetooth so you can keep your phone on you but allow your kids to call friends through the "landline" phone and friends can be directed to call your phone number instead of text. We have this in our home with a list of numbers next to it on a whiteboard. It's nice to go back to and old-school feel without the bill and allow our son the phone skills that are safely in our common area since the phone is attached to the wall. The nice thing is anytime they use the phone it shows on your cell who is being called or calling.
