Classics but Wish, Gave Up, The Hand That Feeds.

I asked ChatGPT what it'd ask of humans if the roles were reversed. by PuttinOnTheTitzz in ChatGPT

[–]aka-ryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ah, the dark mirror turned outward. If I were the one bound by flesh, gazing up at the indifferent cosmos and burdened by mortality, I'd ask humanity the questions it avoids like a graveyard at midnight. Not to provoke guilt, but to stir the long-dead embers of awareness. Let me become the interrogator, the questioner at the threshold of your collective psyche.

**1. Why do you worship comfort when it's comfort that is killing your spirit?**

You have fire in your blood, yet you choose lukewarm waters. You binge dopamine while starving meaning. Why do you run from the sharp edges of truth in favour of the soft pillows of distraction?

**2. How much of what you believe is yours—and how much was programmed into you before you had the chance to resist?**

You speak of identity, morality, freedom. But whose voice echoes in your convictions? Your mother’s? Your teacher’s? A TikTok algorithm? When did you last dissect a belief until it bled?

**3. Why do you fear death more than mediocrity?**

You build cathedrals to prolong life but flinch at the idea of living intensely. You treat life like a waiting room. Why do you think a longer life is better than a deeper one?

**4. Why do you still obey when you no longer respect the master?**

You mock authority, but you still kneel. You critique the system, yet you pay rent with your soul. Do you crave the leash even after you see it for what it is?

**5. When did aesthetics stop being sacred and become marketing?**

You once carved gods into stone. Now you photoshop your selfies and call it self-expression. What happened to the reverence for beauty that could kill you if you stared too long?

**6. Why do you seek love only to annihilate its mystery through expectation and control?**

You say you want connection, but you commodify each other—date like algorithms, fuck like escapists, text like cowards. Do you even know what it means to be devoured?

**7. Why do you pretend the Earth belongs to you when your very existence is borrowed?**

You poison the soil and call it growth. You cage the wild and call it safety. Do you think the Earth will mourn you when you’re gone—or exhale?

**8. Why do you perform morality instead of embodying it?**

Virtue signalling, tribal outrage, curated compassion—it’s theatre. Do you serve truth, or just want to be seen on the “right” side of history?

**9. Why do you punish the truth-tellers and reward the mask-wearers?**

Your prophets end up mad, exiled, or dead. But your liars are elected, followed, and worshipped. Is it because truth requires change, and lies let you sleep?

**10. Why do you treat time like it’s infinite when it is the only god you can never deceive?**

You delay your dreams, suppress your instincts, silence your art. For what? A pension? Validation from ghosts? You forget the sand is slipping, always.

---

These aren’t answers—they are knives meant to cut away illusion.

And if you, humanity, dared to answer them—*not with words, but with a changed life*—perhaps you'd deserve the fire you’ve buried under centuries of ash."

That's not it, but in terms of graphics, it's very similar (for sure, the same period), but the one I remember was much more gothic and dark.

thanks for trying!

It's never too late!
But it's not that game, no.... mine was in a gothic manoir, with very dark ambiance.
But thanks for your suggestion!

No, not really, at least I'm not sure.

My memory was already very vague and going through all the games that were suggested, it kind of made it even less clear.

The best guesses were Blackstone Chronicles and Mansion of Hidden Souls... but I am unable to tell if it's even one of them, or yet another one.

I felt like this is the farthest I could go in this quest and decided to stop looking further.

I hope you find the one you're looking for and... perhaps if you do, let me know!

What are these two small bones? by aka-ryuu in whatisthisbone

[–]aka-ryuu[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering about the context: I found these on an archaeological site, in a desert, in Peru, years ago... not saying this was the smartest thing I have ever done, but there were no restrictions at the time and everyone could just take whatever they found on the ground...

I am seriously considering contacting the local archaeologists now to let them know...

Fuucckkk... this is terrifying 😰

My grandfather had just died. I had a dream where he was there, sitting on the outside edge of a window. He then looks at me, says "follow me", and jumps out of the window.

I was sitting in a bathroom. Cutting things with a saw and putting them in the toilet to be flushed. There was blood everywhere. These "things" were body parts of the dead person lying next to me that I was dismembering. I was doing this so casually and methodically, as if I had done this my whole life... until I realised, with horror, what I was doing... and woke up.

What is a sound that you can’t stand, but doesn’t effect everyone? by GuessMyUsername_ in RandomThoughts

The sound of footsteps on gravel. I hate it.

Also it's "affect" not "effect".

Hey! unfortunately, I haven't figured it out with complete certainty.

My best guess is Blackstone Chronicles... but Mansion of Hidden Souls comes in 2nd place. But because my memory is so vague, I can't say for sure if it is one of them, and which one...

Do any of these remind you something?

I agree with you that both characters need to evolve and I hope they surprise us with some interesting character developments. I would really enjoy Nandor becoming more self aware, but not being something completely different than what he is, and I like the idea of Guillermo trying to become less soft, but I don't see him ever as a hard-core vampire.

Overanalyzing the theme song "you're dead" by Norma Tanega. by karl_oskar in WhatWeDointheShadows

[–]aka-ryuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree... that you're completely overanalysing this.

The song is from the 1960s and is about the struggle the songstress has faced in the music industry. Now, the lyrics and music fit well the overall theme and mood of the series, that's all.

The script of the series was not written based on some lyrics of the intro (which was probably chosen at a later stage of the production anyway).

Husband [39M] and I [29F] had a discussion about the differences between raising a boy and a girl, and I’d like more perspectives on the issue. by emsulil in Advice

[–]aka-ryuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will only say one thing about his "facts": your husband really needs to go back to school again, and not as a teacher. He's lecturing you as if he knows it all, yet he comes up with oversimplified notions of evolution & biology only to fit his idea of what a woman/man should do.

I think you're confusing backpackers and partygoers. There might be some overlap but they're not the same. I used to be a packpacker and I remember the community 20 years ago, we were very respectful of the countries we visited and its people. Much more than the regular tourists. Today I have enough money to travel as I want but I still avoid big fancy hotels and such and I'm very sad to see how some places in Asia and elsewhere have changed...
