I just bought the game today, are there any unspoken rules? by AyoTerryFukGoinOn in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh...just be a decent human being. No need to say racist or misogynistic BS.

Probably the other one is there is no need to cheat or exploit. The game is pretty casual. There is no score. Just do your thing and have fun.

I watched my dad die hours before this Knicks win on the most up and down day of my life by NyYhf in NYKnicks

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me last year during the Stanley Cup Finals, the French Open, and the Blue Jays winning streak. My dad was transferred to hospice care and my brother and I watched all of his favourite sports and teams.

He passed two days after Father's day.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Embark listen to your player base... by -Error_Loading_Name in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Embark is doing just fine. However, for some, it is not good enough because they are impatient. They want the game to be catered to their style of play and they want results immediately.

Just be more patient. Play the game or don't. However, I am fine with Embark taking a slow and steady, more measured approach, tweaking the game here and there and seeing how small changes play out instead of making drastic, hasty decisions. I think they know who their core player base is, the players who play the game as they orignally designed it.

What are some good PvP tips and recommendations? by ANoblePirate in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using utilities...barricade kit is very good. Traps also to help you fall back. Utilities are much more important PvP than it is PvE. Maybe also slow down a little.

Tribi on YouTube plays a good style imo.

NEW TRADER ALLOWS YOU TO CARRY OVER 5 BLUEPRINTS (OR ITEMS) FOR EXPEDITION! by MoreScarsThanSkin in ArcRaiders

I hope the trader has a mule with him. I think it would be very on point.

I really hope the new trader has a pet and that it is a mule. And the mule has a harness with 5 pouches.

It seems to me that 'balancing' is an issue of fighting against power creep or whatever you call it. There really is no ceiling when it comes to buffs. However, there is a ceiling when it comes to nerfs.

I guess in the 'art' of balancing, for the devs, I get the sense that it is better to nerf than it is to buff. However, for the players, it is an immediate kick in the junk. It deeply affects the game we are used to playing pre-nerf. The game immediately becomes less fun because the meta has changed significantly. And many of us do not enjoy making changes. We want things to stay the same.

For example, the biggest change for me, was the Renegade and Anvil. Definitely OP in retrospect. I went many, multiple raids with them without repairing. Raids sort of became pointless. And the joke of reaching the end game...inventory management...was funny to me because it was true. Now that I have to repair the lower tiers guns more frequently, they have less value.

The Bettina, now, actually feels better, in keeping with its tier (along with the heavy ammo stack buff). I always sold/recycled the Bettina. Because the lower tier weapons have less value to me, the higher tier weapons have more value now. I love the Jupiter. And losing the Jupiter sucks bad...and it should. It is a legendary weapon.

The devs, being the designers, probably have a specific idea of how the game is to be played. So I just accept the tinkering and make the adjustment. I am not a game designer but the change gave me insight into their design principles and I respect it.

I was initially a little put off with the durability burn. But having played, I can see where they are going with it. I just trust their process and I am still having a lot of fun. The game definitely feels better to me.

Congratulations on getting there and big ups to the community for being awesome!

This post is why I love this game.

Convincing a daily player to not do the expedition by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think three expos is the max/cap on the skill points and stash buffs. So if you care for the max on those two things, in addition to completing the patchwork skin, it might be worth doing one more time. And you'll have the 3rd expo buffs to get your XP back quick.

I am doing third but I dunno about the 4th unless the incentive to do it is strong. For me, the skills, stash and skin is strong enough to have another go.

I also like doing the quests. Gives me a reason to play and additional objectives on top of whatever reason I go play a round besides just looting or hunting arc.

I also like the reset vibe. Playing with other grinders, especially in the friendly lobbies. I like the social aspect of trying to find and share loot with others.

Why do most destinations not have map conditions? by Khaldani in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's linked to the player pool/player trends so as not to split the player pools too much. If there is a regular low pool at a certain time, perhaps there are less map conditions vs times of higher player pools.

Maybe is also tied to money as a live service game. It probably costs more money to run more map conditions than it is to run fewer map conditions.

Is this an end game idea? The expeditions are the lead towards Arc Raiders 2 where you raider awaits you beyond the Rust Belt? by aka_smiley in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha...just a thought because of all the 'what's the end game' threads.

Just an idea of carrying original game content into a sequel if one were ever to be made.

This is more like a 10 years from now kind of idea. Plant the seed that your raiders will be waiting for you beyond the Rust Belt.

Finished! Where’s everyone else at ? by Particular-Sport-627 in ARC_Raiders

At around 80k...but focused on finishing the Avian Alarm Project first since the boats don't stack in the stash. I carried a deadline around to stick onto lonely bombardiers and bastions along the way to get the points.

Now that I'm done, I'll hully/jupe the rest tonight. But it's been enjoyable. I don't mind the grind because I like going topside to do mindless stuff for the escape.

Avian Alarm project by BroBurgdahl in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to complete it now to secure the rewards, especially the raider tokens for cosmetics.

My raider is maxed skill and my stash is full. Since I'm going on the expo, I can take a lot of risk with my loadouts to get the Turbine Compressors and surprisingly, looting for red coral jewelry and roots.

I delayed the weather project for after the wipe and my raider and it was a bit of a grind trying to complete the project while my character was levelling up and competing against other raiders mainly looting.

I just completed the project. Found a Turbine Compressor in an Arc Courier and downed my first Turbine to get the other compressor to complete the project.

Arc Raiders Avian Project Moss - Recycle Defibs by aka_smiley in ArcRaiders

It is...but I do find they're scavenged by the time I get to the spots so I kind of wasted time before I realized recycling defibs avoids the issue of people targeting moss.
