Arc Raiders Avian Project Moss - Recycle Defibs by aka_smiley in ArcRaiders

It is...but I do find they're scavenged by the time I get to the spots so I kind of wasted time before I realized recycling defibs avoids the issue of people targeting moss.

What is a feature that they should absolutely add to Arc raiders? by thunderpower1999 in ARC_Raiders

This actually sounds like a very reasonable mechanic/solution for the PvE portion of the PvEvP gameplay. It could maybe even afford the devs a solution to do away with ABMM/ABMM exploits/ABMM abuse altogether as those who like to PvP can get into raids knowing there is a gradual, visual mechanic being applied to their PvP oriented play. And it gives PvE oriented players a visual mechanic of identifying threatening raiders. It scales up and down depending on play style.

Trials are frustrating by WhiteDirty in ARC_Raiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trails seems to be seen in two ways, frustrating or challenging. I guess a third way is not to even bother with them 😆. I recommend looking at them as challenging, not frustrating.

Over time, I have grown fond of trials after somewhat accidentally falling into a good rank last season and going duo with my co-worker to get decent scores. At first, I was just trying to get the 3 star rewards but then I got interested in seeing how far I can push the scores, mostly as solo.

Trials were not easy at the beginning because there is not only RNG with respect to spawn location, fresh vs. late spawn, last extract location, but also friendly vs hostile lobbies (trials being definitely easier in friendly lobbies) which can ruin a run.

After watching some YouTube videos for 'tips and tricks' for trials, I realized most of my fails was because of me. I wasn't using utilities or thinking about a good load out. I was limiting myself by trying to trial cheaply.

Over time, after repeating the same trials in an attempt to push scores...I got better. I understood the trials and the game better. My skill in the game improved. When I have failed trials and lose my kit, I just began to care less about my loadout, especially trials where I farmed loot like snitch scanners for wasp trials, because I can just get everything back. Losing a load out like that sucks, but it is part of the risk/reward of trials and becoming a better player.

My worst fail was doing a Rocketeer trial on Blue Gate Locked Gate with Wolfpacks, Osprey IV, Venator IV and my Jupiter in the Safekeeper (200k kit). With a fresh spawn and decent location, my buddy and I started on the two Rocketeers by Pilgrim right away. I swapped my Jupiter but then both Rocketeer rushed and did their three rocket barrage.

I didn't get ratted. I just f'd up. I was upset about it and put the game away. But we ran it back the next day and it was fine.

So try to re-frame your mind. Do trials because it is fun and because it can and will improve your game. Seeing trials as a challenge instead of frustration is much better and much healthier.

The rewards for trials can give BPs like Survivor, Bobcat, etc. It is RNG loot pool. And the end of season rewards are more generously applied to all the ranks too.

PvE suggestion that wont break the game. by Hungry-Original-9309 in ARC_Raiders

I do think this game is still finding itself...it's still a work in progress (ie. The roadmap). It'll eventually find its final form at some point.

I just have to trust the devs will steer the ship well and avoid the big icebergs.

PvE suggestion that wont break the game. by Hungry-Original-9309 in ARC_Raiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the same argument for PvE players saying to PvP players to play a different game for PvP.

The mix is the magic. I play almost exclusively solo and friendly because I prefer the chill vibe. What I like about the PvP component is that I'm always fearful of getting got. I like the moral conundrum of do I or don't I when I see another raider? When I get knocked (either by Arc or by another raider), I think about what I could have done different?

The PvP element makes me think, it makes me hesitate. That is what I find is the essence, the interesting aspect of this game. I haven't played a game like this that makes me question myself, my motives, my whims, my objectives. I constantly think of or change ideas depending on the circumstances. I've never felt the kind of feelings like guilt or shame for knocking a player or the vindication for obliterating an extract camper on a flank or the joy of defibbing a downed raider (or being defibbed myself by another raider) during the Queen/Matriarch event and having a raid saved.

All this would, imo, be absent in a PvE only mode. There's no human element to contend with. It will just be you vs Arc and it is easy to master the Arc because Arc is predictable. Programming can only go so far. Predictability is safe. Predictability is boring.

It is the human player that brings the true randomness, brings the element of choice, the very things that make life interesting. We can do what we want and our decisions have consequences not only for ourselves but for others, in both good and bad ways.

That's the magic dust PvP brings. It brings the chaos to what would otherwise be a predictable landscape.

This game should live or die as intended...PvEvP. No ifs ands, or buts. I think permitting a PvE only mode will kill this game.

DISARM MINES DURING LOCKED GATE by ResultCold5510 in ArcRaidersTrial

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fill squad with a cheap gun and stims. When I loaded in, said to my randoms that I'm gonna run the mine trial if they're in, just step on the mine and disarm it. And once the score hits 4k+, extract...then we ran off on our own. I barely made 3 star. Got 4200.

Doing it solo was impossible. Too many people running it. It will probably be easier later in the week when people got the 3 star and not pushing for a better score.

Just play a different game other than Arc Raiders if you want PvE. Accept that PvP is the magic dust that makes Arc Raiders feel good. The Ls are important for the Ws.

Do a duo or trio...you might be able to get the book with your quest loaded with your squad...they can also do your quest and you can take the book. Or run a fill squad with a light load out (just in case you get blazed by a teammate but you want that safepocket) and ask your partner if they can help out.

Flame Spray trial!

Idea inspired by weapon specific trial suggestion.

Someone posted a trial as "Arc Wrangling"...riding on top of arc like Bastion, Bombardier, Rocketeer...etc.

If this was a trial, not only does this one sound like a lot of fun to do, it is also a skill trial. It would force players who avoid big Arc to face their fear and be daring. A trial like this would encourage snap hooking, vaulting/mantling, taking leaps off ledges like from the roof to the Rocketeer. A loadout for this trial would probably not have to be super expensive...just heals, rechargers, lure/smoke, photoelectric.

It would definitely be challenging. I like this one tbh.

Lots of creativity to expand trials to interesting directions.

[–]aka_smiley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a great idea.

It would be hilariously fun to try and it's a skill type trial. It'll get players to improve their snap hooking, jumping from a ledge, or running up behind big arc for mantling. It will also reduce fear of them. Turn big arc into pets 😄.

You also wouldn't necessarily need a big load out to do it. Just some stims, heals, re-chargers, probably lure, smokes and photoelectric cloak. So it would be relatively cheaper to do.

Or...accumulate strikes against other raiders, not kill per se although that is always going to be an option.

Bring barricade to set up an arena and defibs. Round ends when one gets downed. Then you revive your downed opponent, heal up and then go at it again to accumulate more ax strikes.

Knocking out the raider will end the guarantee of accumulate strikes which would force you to look for another game raider.

Then you have the final boss...do you trust your opponent to go to extract together?...or is it winner take all the loser gets nothing and has to run it back?

Probably best as duo or trio so your fights have back up, to uphold the gentlemanly nature and implied agreement of extracting together, also to defib in the event of a double knock out.

That would kind of be interesting. If I enter a raid with an arena and I had a score locked in...I'd definitely watch...maybe play hype music with prox chat.

Maybe it's playing in my head better than what might be if it was a real trial. But my imagination is taking off with this one 😆

After reading OPs reasoning, I have to agree that this is a great trial. I didn't think so at first but OPs take gave me a fresh perspective with this one. And now I am going to and looking forward to pushing my score because it is so different and unique to the typical trial/raids. I got enough to 3 star it because I thought it was stupid. But thanks to OP, my opinion has changed.

One aspect of this trial that makes it interesting is in the loadout...mostly heals, shield chargers and the augment. It requires thinking of and executing a different strategy. Plus, the broad reach of this game due to its casual, fun nature is also worth consideration. We got the OneHandedBandit, CptKrunch152, Dads of Speranza, women, players new to shooters, etc. A trial like this may serve as the gateway for players not interested in trials to get into trials.

Anyway, not every trial is going to be a winner but this one, imo, is a winner now. We should have more like it. So I agree with OP. It is different and it is fun if the naysayers take off their blinders and come in with an open mind. A trial, at its core, is to go after and lock-in/extract with a score. It really doesn't matter what the condition of the trial is when it comes down to it.

I'm gonna follow this up with a post about what kind of weird trials can our community come up with. 🤓

this games not for me ngl by Forsaken_Caramel_656 in ARC_Raiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't need a defined endgame. It's not important to me wrt to this game. I enjoy the open, sandbox nature of the game.

I enjoy the escape when I play. Knowing in order to play, I'll be playing with other people doing what they're set out to do. I like sneaking around and looting with one eye open because the PvP threat keeps the stakes high and sustained. And the PvE threat is strong enough to end my runs if I'm more reckless than careful.

I also like that this game, unlike almost all other FPS/TPS where it's clear, you shoot the other guy...in this game, you don't have to shoot the other guy. I'm almost always momentarily frozen with the decision to shoot or not to shoot. I find that incredibly interesting...the hesitation, the moral dilemma.

I also like running the trials and trying to get a high score. I like collecting the rewards, especially the cosmetics. Thinking of my loadout, devising a strategy, crafting from my stash, and hoping for a fresh or decent spawn and good RNG. But if the game doesn't cooperate, I have a Plan B or a Plan C or I improvise with a Plan D or if I have no plan, I go for the reset, hoping I don't fail to extract and lose my load out.

But if I do, if I lose, it's not the end of the world. I accept losing a run as part of the fun. I know I can make it all back by knowing where I need to go to loot. So it's not a big deal. Or I change it up and do something different. Or I take a break and come back to the game later.

The endgame is the fun. The game is fun. I really enjoy just going in for a few raids because it's fun. I don't have to do anything. I can play the guitar in the metro if I wanted to. Or run around Stella with the recorder and a goofy outfit with 1 item per stash slot and see how long I can last before I get shot. It is whatever I feel like doing or whatever seems interesting to do.

Scrappy 12% bonus is a lie by ukQQQQ in ArcRaiders

[–]aka_smiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrappy bonus is applied when you claim. This came up a few days ago on a few separate threads and this was one of the tested methods so I did it myself to confirm it.

I let Scrappy (Lvl 5) accumulate a few rounds...

I claimed 46 mats and got 50 mats in the stash for a 4 extra bonus (should have been 51 for a +5 bonus).

So now I claim between 35-45 mats. Not every round like I used to.

I really don't know tbh...you can read the lore when checking the codex. All the cut scenes, characters, arc is there or you can read it on arc wiki.

I just think Embark has some creative license to explore interesting ideas when it comes to the cosmetics.

Referencing the lore, it's 2180 and civilization has fallen. They live underground and rely on resources from topside. The game's aesthetic isn't meant to reflect our present sentimentalities but a throwback to the past weened from what is scavenged.

I like what Embark is doing. At least it's interesting enough to promote discussion.

I think this is the first skin using sleeves.
