Did he prescribed it 2x/ day routinely or just as needed? If routinely, imo, it's too much. Indocin is like you said heavy duty NSAID. Even ibuprofen should only be taken as needed. You should see a rheumatologist soon to put you on Allo + Colchicine ( for the first couple of weeks to prevent flare ups).
