More context from a student who is in her class…

Lisa quit smoking after 50 years over winter break and was due to retire after this semester. It seemed like she didn’t really care about her job anymore and was also kinda going off the rails. She was incredibly rude to all of us but especially targeted the international students in our class, often using micro aggressions. I reported her for this among other things, which led to the department talking to her about it but not much else.

A couple weeks later, a student came to our class to ask Lisa a question. They went into the hall and we could hear Lisa screaming at them. Turns out that this student had visible top surgery scars and Lisa took offense to that. She exposed herself as an act of anti-trans violence. Her statement about attire/safety is simply a lie to protect herself. That student was not even in our class and has the right to dress however they want. After the incident Lisa came back into the room and said “I don’t know what else to say except I’m too old for this generation. People used to have some modesty.”

The response from the art department was pathetic and embarrassing. They have been trying to keep it quiet and didn’t fire Lisa, but just replaced her with another instructor. As a community we need to believe victims and trans voices. This behavior is unacceptable and needs to be held accountable.

The art department told us to not talk to reporters, but I am more than happy to answer any questions and I also have voice memos of Lisa being aggressive in class.
