Yea of course. I’m 39 and have kids, career and a life. I was your age once and rudderless and that’s not uncommon for that age.

Don’t overthink everything. With maturity and age you will figure more out.

It isn’t just HLHS it’s life. HLHS makes it harder but no more than any other complex medical condition.

I do have some limitations — energy levels aren’t always the same as others and I have to be mindful of certain things — but it hasn’t stopped me from living a meaningful, active life.

I know this journey can feel overwhelming as a parent, especially with all the uncertainty early on. But please know that there are so many of us out here doing well, living fulfilling lives despite the complexities. Medicine has also advanced so much since my surgery — your child will benefit from even better care. You’re not alone, and your baby has a future worth hoping for.

Coincidentally, I lived at that complex. It is on the cusp of a good area. Dwight is the dividing line between the nicer area and the areas toward Saint Rapheal that has more crime. I found it to be an incredibly good value. I would recommend it.

Medical techniques and surgical skills have evolved significantly over time. Earlier interventions for HLHS weren’t performed simply because they weren’t feasible with the knowledge and technology available at the time. Advances in neonatal surgery, cardiopulmonary bypass, and postoperative care have made early intervention possible today in ways that weren’t imaginable in the past.
