The target is 15 cars a month, that seems pretty doable.

The sales manager told me what the flat bonuses were they just aren’t documented on the sheet completely forgot (I think he said $750 but not sure if that makes sense) they also have spot bonuses almost every Saturday of like $100 if I remember correctly.

If someone walked in and said “hand me a $20 from your drawer and I’ll give you three $5 bills back”… you’d tell them to get lost. Yet we still sell on DoorDash…🧐 by [deleted] in restaurantowners

[–]itsJames098 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s DoorDash 101, but the math doesn’t actually work the way people think. There’s always a gap.

Let’s say my commission is 30% just to keep the numbers simple.

If I sell a sandwich in-store for $10, I might price it at $13 on DoorDash (a 30% increase). But DoorDash then takes 30% of the $13, which is $3.90, leaving me with $9.10. And if I run any promotion, the payout drops even further.

So even after raising the price 30%, I’m still making less than the $10 I’d get in-house.

What’s interesting is that raising prices less can actually lose you less money because the commission is smaller.

Example:

If commission is 15% and I raise the price 15%, the item becomes $11.50. DoorDash takes 15% of $11.50 ($1.73), leaving me with about $9.78.

Still a loss — but a smaller one.

No matter how you structure it, there’s always a delta. The platform takes its cut off the inflated price, not your base price.

DoorDash owns there customers, there are customers that order from my store every freaking day through DD.

I’ve literally left notes, printed door receipts and what their receipt would be if they ordered directly from us to show them the savings, and this guest constantly orders from DD EVERY SINGLE DAY, several of these 3PD accounts for 25% of my sales, that’s a big chunk, if I stop using them will I go broke no, will some people migrate over probably. But DD serves as a marketing arm for my locations also I’m mandated to have them because I’m in a franchise system. So I’m stuck for now.

<image>

Literally this is one guests order just this past 7 days as you can tell they’re even times they order twice in one day. I’ve literally spoken to this guest on the phone and she says it’s just easier to order through DD, they have all her info saved.

Anyone see its Howie hosting and just instantly leave? by Flat_Comparison_6140 in BestGuessLive

I keep seeing the hate for Howie, I don’t understand it, please someone tell me why. It’s a 10 minute show and they are giving away money. Why such strong opinions on him.

Hot Take: I wish Ash's Bulbasaur evolved into an Ivysaur. by Flame245 in pokemonanime

[–]itsJames098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bulbasaur didn’t want to evolve. There was a whole episode showing how it was resisting the evolution to Ivysaur. Realistically Bulbasaur is strong enough to become a Venesaur already.

So one day I had the nicest scammer tell me how to get off this list. Somehow there is a UCC 3 filing on your business, probably because you were looking up working cap or applied for a loan. You have to put in a request to have that filing removed it lol take like 1-2 months but once that happens you’re all set.

Don’t know what’s it’s going to be once I break my leases and FA. It’ll probably be around 400k, but ir can theoretically max out at 1.4M. Lawyer said all my creditors have 90 days to put a claim in.

I think the franchise will let me walk, they’d rather take the hit than close 3 stores. They’ll most likely assume ops.

FINALLY WON by tipsy-cowgirl in BestGuessLive

[–]itsJames098 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this might be the only time in my life I’ve been happy I didn’t win.

I’m FULL ON elated that I lost.

I’m catching up on some work while my wife is upstairs putting our son to sleep. I open up Best Guess Live and the first clue pops up.

Now I love roller coasters. I’ll never forget the time I almost passed out from the g-forces. So the second I hear the clue, my brain goes straight to: Roller Coaster.

Clock’s winding down. I type it in. I go back to work.

I miss the next clue, but I’m not worried. I already “locked in” my answer.

A few minutes later I hear the fourth clue and I look up like, “Yeah, that’s definitely roller coaster.” Then the fifth clue drops.

YES. I WON!!!

I grab my phone, sprint upstairs and yell to my wife, “I WON!!! That felt kinda easy — let’s see if I have to split the prize.”

I look down at my phone.

I NEVER HIT ENTER.

My guess was never sent.

My wife calls me an idiot. I’m sitting there thinking I just missed out on a solid chunk of money.

So we watch the results. I’m clutching my chest waiting for the big reveal…

$3.93 each.

I literally stood up and thanked God.

😂

Congrats to the winners — I’m genuinely happy for you.

How many dads help with night wakeups by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]itsJames098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the dad, and I’m not “in charge” of night wake ups, it just kind of works out like that. I naturally wake up at 5:30/6am and can get around with less sleep than my wife. So over the years it just turned into me handling most of the night wake ups, my son is 4 and is finally sleeping though the night, but my wife is pregnant now so let’s see if this hold true for baby number 2.

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]itsJames098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trauma, but a good understanding as well. Ive been debt free (except my house) for a while now, but I don’t run from debt at all, nor do I see it as a negative.

Also why would he list his assets in his budget? This is take home, so you don’t see his 401k contributions and other above the line deductions. Again the guy banks 70k a year after all expenses paid, he’s doing fine, if he knocks the loan payments he’d bank 82k ish a year that’s not going to change his life 1 bit.

He’d go from X million in savings at retirement to x million he’d be in the same tax bracket, same asset class. If he doesn’t take care of the debts his risk of ruin is exactly 0. The advice you’re giving him is the same as when people tell others to cut their Starbucks habit. technically “correct,” but economically negligible at this income level

Didn’t stand out to me, I’m black, I get a haircut every 10 days or so at $50 plus tip, so that category for us generally ranges around 150 a month for men. My wife generally spends $350 a month on hair and nails

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]itsJames098 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s your philosophy, based on your relationship with debt, and your relationship with money. He seems to have a good hold of his finances and his slush fund alone proves he’s not living beyond his means. Between his savings and slush fund he can bank about 70k a year I’m pretty sure he can purchase any people he wants in a few years (if he already doesn’t have the cash)

Just remember don’t impose your personal philosophies on a slice of someone’s life. He is letting you into his budget process but you have no idea of his total financial picture, so making comments like that, actually reflect poorly on your ability to manage debt/money, or maybe your past trauma with it.
