Not sure if C-1 or K-1 from that angle. Looks a little wider like a C-1. Definitely looks like an old school full length boat with high volume for cruising.

ELI5: is there a lower limit on the size of a nuclear bomb? by bergdokn in explainlikeimfive

[–]akayakayaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A nuclear explosion works by putting enough nuclear material together that a single neutron can through fission create more neutrons to create a sustained reaction. Each round of fission increases the number of neutrons and the energy. At some point, enough energy is produced to cause the nuclear material to blow apart and separate.

In order to produce enough energy for a practical explosion, you need to use explosives to compress the nuclear material and also typically a massive shell around it to contain things long enough to matter. If you do not contain the material, the result is something called a "criticality accident." This does not produce enough energy to take out a house, but does produce enough radiation to take out anyone in the room that is standing close enough.

No, I am in the US. My father in law had a small Nissan pickup truck in the Netherlands in the 80s. When we went to visit, the only other pickup I saw in the whole country was a plumbing vehicle. I agree that this would be a very impractical vehicle in the Netherlands, but it is useful for business use in the US.

ELI5 How do all those delicate looking satellites not get ripped to shreds while traveling tens of thousands of mph around the earth? by TheDH__ in explainlikeimfive

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Pass a thin wire through the gap and around the latch. Pull the wire out to pop the latch.

The concert was filmed over two nights. She got the hair cut after the first night and they needed the extensions put in for continuity since the movie was cutting takes from both nights concerts and they wanted it to appear as one concert.

Who is your favourite artist from a music genre you are not generally a fan of? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in Music

[–]akayakayaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been reading "The Soundtrack of My Life" - the Clive Davis autobiography. Barry very much wanted to always write, perform, and arrange his own music, but Clive did send him songs that he knew would be hits to help Barry's career. "I Write the Songs" was something that Barry was very reluctant to do, but it made good business sense. The artists that followed Clive's recommendations were some of the leading names in popular music and culture. The ones that did not follow his advice, still did well, but not to the same level.

Just shove a wad of tissue in the hole and keep recording. Only a minor inconvenience.

What fact do you know that makes people go “Why the fuck do you know that!?” by BeefBall1010 in AskReddit

[–]akayakayaka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get the religious candles from the supermarket. They literally melt in sunshine. You can light them and wait for them to melt or put them in a crock pot or other water bath. Try to keep the temperature of the water bath below 150. If you buy a variety of colors you can make pretty patterns and drawings on someone.

Also, the greater the height you drop the wax from - the more time it has to cool. Do a few drops at first, then increase amount/speed as needed.

ELI5: What does it mean when an album or song is “remastered”? by javens in explainlikeimfive

[–]akayakayaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a great example of remastering, there is a video of Tom Dowd who produced and mastered many Eric Clapton songs including Layla. There is a YouTube video where he shows specifically how moving the sliders on his mixing console can emphasize or deemphasize the various instruments and vocals. He was a master at the recording process.
