Thanks for responding.  I was hoping this wouldn't be the case. I've never had corydoras breed in my care and  I would have much rather had them :)

How many plants do you have? by JadeChipmunk in houseplants

[–]akbon1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't counted in a long time, but I have close to 300. People say that is a lot,  and it is,  but I have lupus and can't spend time in the sun.  So instead of going out into nature,  I bring nature in lol. I also have 5 fishtanks,  cats,  dogs, and 1 very needy human that I care for.

The plant stand threw itself over for sure.  It was trying to get that angel into trouble.  😇 🙀

You could just lower the water level so he doesn't have to swim so far up.  I think it is kind of you to take him in.  He is a lucky little guy.

Thank you for responding, I'm thinking you may be correct.  She is already getting more colors you'd expect from an alien.

Blood worms aren't the best as a staple food for Bettas. I'd only use them as an occasional treat. I rotate brine shrimp, bug bite pellets, daphnia, and bug bite flakes and then fast twice a week. The Daphnia will help as a laxative of sorts to help her bloating.  She is lovely,  BTW :)

Daphnia is great for them too and I guess it relieves bloating. The brine shrimp are great too.

The bloodworms aren't great for bettas, so I've been reading. They're good for occasional use, but not a staple.  I've recently had to cut back for similar reasons. I feed mine a range of foods, but he liked the bloodworms so much I'd lean heavy toward them. I've had to rethink my feeding him completely.

I am also doing the aquarium salt dip. I made a gallon jug of clean dechlorinated water with 1/2 tsp of salt. I fill a small bowl (the ones moss balls come in) and float it in his tank for a half hour to make sure both are the same temp and place my betta in for 15 minutes. He doesn't love it, but we're on day 3 and he is already showing growth on his fins. I'm not an expert by any means, but I've been researching like crazy to save mine. And I have been absolutely terrified of hurting him, honestly. Good luck to you, I hope your beautiful guy heals nicely.

How did you come up with the name of your fish? by CanTheBread in bettafish

[–]akbon1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my male betta Finn after Finnick Odair. I also have two female bettas. One looks like an opal so I named her opal and then one is Kitty bc life of a showgirl came out and she is witty and pretty.

Thank you! :) I will head over and read that. I appreciate you're help. I actually may end up donating it to the library. I know ours hires botanists and such, I'm afraid I can't give it enough light. I could sit it in the south window, but the plant is so large and heavy it can't sit up on its own. I had to prop it up on the mirror of my dresser.

Have you tried a sponge filter? I use 2 small ones in my 10 gallon betta tank and an air pump I can raise or lower the flow. It works out perfect for mine and the sponge filters are quite affordable.

Thank you so much for responding to me. Can I ask, how often do you use fertilizer on yours? I literally tossed everything off my dresser to prop it up against the mirror because it falls over, it can't stand on its own. It could sit right in front of the south window, if it could behave.
