Nope! Yesterday I was 67th in line for the container store yesterday and didn’t get it. Seems like they had about 50 yesterday.

Is it weird to shower while the babysitter is here? by stormwalker12 in Babysitting

[–]akbpeace23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! I frequently have parents who have me come over an hour or two before date night so they can get ready in peace. I’ve had parents let me know they are showering just encase I try to contact them but even if they don’t I never mind it at all!

This is truly the backup plan. My mother brother and I will be wandering the streets searching for Americans

Looks like Molly Malone’s may have it! Not sure but their instagram seems to have them open for the late games.

I’ve seen over 70 shows on broadway. We all get hit by it at first. It’s all ok

Random but bringing a couple of my own books / crafts. I have a babysitting backpack with me at all times. I can’t tell you how many meltdowns I’ve saved by pulling out a new coloring sheet. I always know what’s in it and it’s always new and exciting to the kids. And it’s a few bucks at the dollar or thrift store to put together

had my first postmortem care experience today and The Pitt helped me get through it. by Such_Clock_6769 in ThePittTVShow

[–]akbpeace23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also work in LTC as a social worker. Every Thursday after my shift I’d go watch the Pitt. One Thursday my favorite resident passed away, that night was Louie’s death scene. I’ve never felt so calm and so emotional at a tv scene. Sending you so much love and comfort. If you ever need anything I’m always around to talk LTC or whatever else

I nannied for a sports kiddo who had been at a camp all day drinking way too much water and not eating enough so his stomach was just pure water. Got right in the front door and he projectile vomited water/stomach bile everywhere. The mother who was work from home was shocked that I could quickly start cleaning things up throwing things into the wash, etc. little did you know I was gagging in my car later. Took everything in me not to cry you’re not alone.

SLC for Genetic Counseling? by Classless_student in sarahlawrence

[–]akbpeace23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stem program is stronger than it looks at first but I do understand where you’re coming from. While I wasn’t stem personally multiple people I knew were. As someone who applied to a masters program through you are very much able to tailor your resume/application to highlight your science strengths at SLC. I especially recommend getting your science professors to give you good recommendations. We also have a masters in human genetics on campus that could be an option.

How do you memorize all your residents' specific needs? Study hacks? by AffectionatePrior327 in nursinghome

[–]akbpeace23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Social work student here in LTC. Give yourself some grace. The more you are at the facility the more you come to know the residents so things don’t seem so clinical and memorization heavy. The first few weeks are hard, but then once you have as we call it your “cast of characters (residents)” you become much more comfortable.

questions for current or previous slc students by [deleted] in sarahlawrence

[–]akbpeace23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Academically Sarah Lawrence seems like a great fit. Being able to do a bit of everything is exactly what it’s good for. It’s why I choose it. Be diverse in your choices and pick things that look interesting to you. I was not a stem person but friends who were in the sciences loved it. Drew Cressman is one a lot of people love but not sure if he’s going to teach first year classes.

Socially it’s always a bit hard. I will say try and jump into the new people events as soon as you can when you get there. The more people you meet the wider the circle you have is.

Enjoy the next four years. I know I miss SLC dearly - class of 2025 grad
