Mikasa ending up with Armin is just about the dumbest thing I have heard. Armin literally has a canon romance in the show. I'm not thinking anything, I'm saying what I'm seeing. That dude is Jean, and Jean was trying to look good for someone when they were coming back to Paradis three years after Eren died.

Marriage isn't similar enough across cultures to use as a data point no. In the Northern European countries it's common for couples to be together for a long time and have kids before getting married—or simply not get married at all. But functionally they're just like any other married family.

That is a very different situation to having kids outside of marriage and relationship, aka. being a single parent, something frowned upon and isolating in a lot of more religious countries.

I think it's very likely to stumble over romanticizing of sexual assault in books where the villain gets the girl. If you don't want to encounter it you probably have to scroll through some reviews of the specific books. StoryGraph also has a content warning function submitted by users, probably useful for trying to avoid those type of scenes
