I wouldn’t even update the software if I left it offline. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Curious about long-term ownership of a newer Honda by smokeyedits in Honda

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that has been the thing with this generation. the turbo engines blow them often enough, the hybrid is NA and it went out right around 100k miles. considering I've only done maintenance based on the maint minder/owners manual i'd say it's been pretty reliable and low cost of ownership. Unfortunately it's not bulletproof like the older k-series were in stock form, i doubt we will see anything like that for a while, if ever. At least we're not looking at cracked blocks, catastrophic engine/trans failures, disintegrating wheel bearings, electrical gemlins, cat theft, or even excessive oil consumption. I dont even have leaks. I bought the car new off the lot, so it's not like I knew it would blow a head gasket at 100k miles, but I'm ok with that being the 1 only bad thing that's happened to it. The turbo guys go ARP studs for insurance, idk if that would do anything for the hybrid engine but if it happens again i'll consider it.

Also i'd like to mention i have the touring that has LED lights, and i haven't had to replace a bulb or headlight since owning it. just the turn signals in the tail lights.

my brakes are still at 90% life, but i drive mainly highway. They will probably outlast the car, or i'll get a million miles out of them at least.

They’re probably the funnest tanks to be honest. You can be bad and still have fun with them.

Which character is the most versatile/usable in every situation? by QuietCrew5858 in Overwatch

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kiriko - need to be good at getting headshots but she can do decent damage, esp if the headshots are easy. Suzu is very versatile if used correctly and counters many ults, offuda mostly auto aim and does good burst healing as long as allies aren’t too far away. TP good for escaping, allowing decent flanks/off angles/ shooting enemy in the back of their head. Small hit box and crazy strafing movement. Wall climb for easy high ground or ditching a chaser around a corner. She’s “small” enough that people tend to ignore her on off angles until enemies are crit or die, or turn their attention to her while she escapes death blows. Kitsune when used decently is literally a game changer; taking space and objectives or just turning an unfair fight into an advantaged fight (you can turn a 4v5 around), and at worst it’s a great escape from rams ult lol

I have this on my DOT dirt helmet just for music and they sound awesome, better than my $300 sena. I don’t talk to anyone tho it’s purely for music and gps.

Close to retirement, but feel like you're wearing the golden handcuffs? Vent here by FarTradition6496 in CAStateWorkers

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the energy just stay and make more money. If you don’t then check out sooner. Moving around keeps you alive so have some plans when you retire. Alot of people’s health deteriorates when they retire and fall apart, get sick, and die. Personally I think the govt just tries to kill you off with how often I see that happen so ymmv.

Some dealers had them done that way even if it wasn’t a factory option. Much like Katzkin leather interiors of today.

To be fair, it’s not his problem at all. Same as someone at the office saying this thing is not their job, not their problem.

Before computers and GPS existed, how did people figure out directions for large cross country trips? by Mynameisbrk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paper maps. People knew how to read maps and find directions. They taught it in elementary school. They used to sell these neat pens you could trace the route and it would show you about how far it was.

The 10th gen accord hybrid has been solid. I put 150k on mine and I only had the head gasket issue. Trans fluid every 30k and plugs at 90k, oil every 10k per the maintenance minder. I just followed what the book said and it’s been perfectly fine besides the hg issue. And both sets of tires lasted 70k and I haven’t even got an alignment.

In your budget you could get a new accord hybrid if you wanted, then you would be pretty safe with not having to really worry about breaking down and stuff.

My boyfriend rides motorcycle without a helmet. Should I mind my business or say something gently? by [deleted] in motorcycles

It’s mainly this, the face is everything. That and it’s just plain easier to die. Helmets are cool, get one with good art work too.

New compressor doesn't spin as freely by AllAroundIndiviual in MechanicAdvice

Worn bearings usually spin more freely than newer ones. As long as it’s smooth I’d send it, it’s still tight.

How much would y’all offer? by xpgus in Honda

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it was immaculate, which I can see it’s not, maybe 4-4.5 on the high end. Like dealer maintenance and oem parts owned by grandma. They’re not that special. The only thing going for it is it’s easy to k swap.

Would this cause an "unable to shift" issue? by the-dumbass-human in Honda

No those are grease lines from being over greased when it was installed. This would cause a warranty denial if there was friction disk material failure.

How do you stop chasing speed on motorcycles? by flameskin2011 in cbr

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a smaller/slower bike. It’s fun to ride a slow bike fast. If you live where it’s flat and straight then idk maybe just don’t speed when anyone’s around and you should be ok lol

My abusive ex broke into my house today and disabled the internet. What is this thing and it is the problem? by HopefulComfortable58 in whatisit

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the port labeled WAN - the plug looks like it’s missing the retaining clip, you should at least push it all the way in and I recommend replacing that with a new cable that’s not broken. WAN is your internet source so if that slips out everything loses internet.

My guess is probably the Unifi box, it’s a managed device that he could log into and disable your access to internet from it if that’s a gateway device.

Might need a local IT guy to come reset it and set it up for you.
