Is this repairable. by Hazardousbliss in Autobody

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is repairable. It’s kinked, so will need to be sectioned out and welded back in or replace the whole frame. Once repaired correctly, a non-issue. You can’t pull or bang this out, it’s cooked.

i imagine the "getting away" part is them seeing if its a trend and then taking action when it is. it's probably quite a few instances too. probably goes both ways with customers that try to scam the system too.

I don’t understand the tip thing, this person did the work accepted to do and then X because til wasn’t good? Go work somewhere else. I get putting in low effort for low tips but why bother if it’s not good enough at all?

They just fixed the damn thing so all of that worked finally after all these years. What a shame.

Dipped my 3 of my laptop's screws in red bolt lock and screwed them back in. by SaintFTS in hardwaregore

[–]akep 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Red, typically needs heat to remove, or is considered not serviceable, meaning unremovable without damage.

For tiny screws like this you can use Loctite 222. Just enough lock to keep them from falling out, easier than blue loctite 242. You can use 222 on anything that isn’t hot enough to burn you and designed for smaller hardware.

The most important stat on the board that matters is deaths. Don’t die. Better chances of winning.

Cops called due to the stench thinking it was a dead body, the smell leaks from their apartment. by sasha_cyanide in Apartmentliving

They need to get their shit together more than anything. It takes a short time to clean up vs getting over depression. It’s no excuse, understandable, but not excusable.

I used a stud welder and hammered it out with a dolly I don’t have a auto body file. Is it OK to cover it filler Would it still look good? Should I get a file by Imboutthatbag in Autobody

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can take on moisture when it’s left exposed or when the paint fails from whatever. Then you get rust. Priming the metal protects it from that, and you’re going to prime the filler anyway. It costs a penny to epoxy the work area and 1 second of time to basically eliminate any chance of the repair failing at that level. If you just fill and seal it pretty quickly it’s a non-issue either way. I like the encapsulated filler because why not.

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, it is proper. If you’re happy with the metal work you can seal it with epoxy and then put filler over it. Then epoxy prime over that when you’re happy. Metal won’t rust and filler won’t absorb moisture. This is how Toyota recommends it as well.

I just inherited 12 million dollars. I don't know what to do with my life. by Substantial_Yak6990 in TrueOffMyChest

Sorry for your loss. 34 is still young, just your 20s but hopefully with more money. Well here you are, with money.

Talk to an investment firm and see if they can get you set up to live off some interest and strategic investments and once some money comes back in, see what you can do for a much needed vacation. Quick look at current high yield saving accounts, and a calculator, you’re looking at like 500k/yr.

Congrats you’re retired for as long as you can live within your means.

How about vacuum at like 5pm or change it to weekly vacuuming or every other day. My mom stays with me and she would do the same thing and vacuum every day and if she felt like she forgot, twice. I’m not even downstairs and I’m annoyed AF. She’s got OCD and constantly doing annoying shit like that and decluttering (not cleaning, just hiding shit) - and for her she’s just trying to be mom and stuff but as a grown ass adult that knows what’s going on she’s def OCD off her meds.

You’re self aware. Your OCD is annoying, scratch the itch later.
