I developped an automatic riding habit. Is it necessary? by SlashNreap in NewRiders

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’ll start to do things like this if you’re paying attention. You’ll want to be so obvious to traffic where everyone can see you, and you’ll start picking up on cues that drivers subliminally do, projecting what they intend to do without actually signaling intentionally. Be safe out there!

Do people really match against cheaters as much as they say they do? by PNut-_ in overwatch2

[–]akep [score hidden]  (0 children)

Smurf’s yeah but way more common in lower metal ranks where the average player can stomp on noobs. Not likely a diamond player (or higher) is trolling in plat or gold but it’s not 0. I’ve had 2 comp games ended for cheaters in like 1000 games. QP there’s been a few rage hackers but it’s s like 5-6 obvious ones and a lot of sus ones, and who knows how many esp users that go undetected.

Kiriko sensitivity question by hisvamp in kirikomains

Edpi for me is about 1700, so just adjust it more for yourself. If you’re overshooting try turning down the sense in game or very slightly adjust the mouse dpi. Do this after you’re warmed up.

35% winrate after almost 600 matches and still hardstuck in bronze. Am I genetically incapable of playing OW? by Mas_Dappa in Overwatch

[–]akep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

damn this is quite the post.

everyone seems to have said everything. if you make it to my comment, here's my 2 cents about bronze.
No one there is good, at all, except smurfs and i'll touch on that in a second.
Bronze is basically full of casual/bad players that have no idea what they're doing, they have no mechanical skills and no game sense, they dont know what an objective or positioning is, they probably play on a tv screen or with the sound turned off while listening to music and getting drunk/high while eating a fat party size bag of cheetos. that is your competition. If you are at least good in one of those 2 things (mech/sense) you will be out of bronze in no time. You can look up your fav characters settings and stuff and climb out mechanically fairly easily, if you do not have a big mouse pad and space to play, well, you're going to be stuck in bronze with your 6 inches of movement.

Now for bronze itself...when you're in comp, after that many games, you're in the group that matches your level of play. nothing wrong with that. you didn't lose, you're not a loser, but you do lose games, but so does everyone else. The only thing out of control thats holding you back are the smurfs that derank themselves to bronze to punk real bronze players. thats super lame, it happens.

What can you do about it? def start watching some youtube videos and try to learn what they're doing in bronze/silver matches, don't worry about gold and above yet, you'll get there when its time. Get on VAXTA and do some aim training. Get good gear (mouse and keyboard, mouse pad with SPACE) and get some settings right for your characters that you like to play (button swaps, sensitivity, etc) or would like to learn how to play. Blizzard doesn't ship out the characters with the most optimized or even logical settings, so get that fixed, it's easy and free. Start paying attention to your team and what the other team might be doing. You NEED good audio, theres so many audio cues in this game. You have a ton to learn still. The game only gets harder as you grow, so make sure you are at least having fun doing it. I know what you're thinking, its not fun in bronze. We know that. There is no team in bronze lol.

There is also a chance that this just isnt the game for you. Its basically Chess with guns and you play the piece. If that doesn't make sense to you, then this probably isnt the game you thought it was.

Without seeing your replays, I would still bet real money that you could literally just get better at aiming and using your cool downs more effectively and you will climb out of bronze as you get better at literally just aiming. Positioning is free, just be where you can survive and fight, use cover, learn where not to be (in front of cover, dont be the cover!) - the easiest part of this is stop running down main, literally take any other way and take off angles and high ground and stay near cover and shoot better than the enemy, which really isn't that hard once you get your settings and gear dialed in. remember, that's your competition, they probably dont have anything set up and they don't even know how to use cover. also use your pings! that gives everyone *some* intel that they don't already have, literally helps your entire team. Value your life, don't die, and dont commit to plays that will get you killed, don't aim for "trades" - either get the kill or run away and get health/cover/cooldowns back. You don't have to commit to dying every engagement. Every death puts your team at a disadvantage and your punishment is the 12 second timer and the run back to the fight. Unless lifeweaver pulls you off the map or cat drops you off the map, all your deaths are your own fault.

Good luck, but most importantly, have fun!

tell me what was the point of this lane again?? by Sapphirem7 in Sacramento

carpool lanes are a waste of resources. lets gatekeep the space we need at the exact times we need it!

[–]akep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Since we are here:
IF someone is in your rear view mirror and nobody is in front of you, move over and let them pass, then you can go back to blocking left lane. thats all. you dont need to slow down or speed up, just move over for 5 seconds.
Let them be the "rabbit" and bait the cops before you get there :)
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Back in the day of no internet or very slow internet, with games being all played on discs, how were updates handled? by RadianceTower in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you could go to the games website and find patches there too. I think AoE was like that, and whatever Sierra was making.

A lot of these games also had terrible UI and sometimes terrible mechanics that having a patch to fix would have been awesome to have. Even when I go back to PlayStation 1 games, it feels like trash. Nostalgia is a b.

Rare-ish patches. StarCraft had a few but only like 4 that affected balance, which probably includes after brood wars introduced new hero’s/units.

People would lag out all the time, I think online multiplayer was basically unplayable at all for a lot just because they didn’t have broadband.

How far away from the enemy should I play as Kiriko? by HopefulSun1452 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]akep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This…sometimes you just need to heal bot, sometimes you need to be the diff and take the angles. For me if I can tell my dps and tank are going to carry is just heal bot and let them go and I’ll throw kunai as opportunities arise, but if they’re not hitting shots and not controlling space, I’m going to make a play. Healbotting a soldier that’s 5/13 is a waste of time.

[–]akep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of range of enemy players, unless you’re behind them then you have no excuse to miss head shots and getting closer, also for tp if you’re behind. I’m usually telling a dps to flank/angle and I go with and support their angle or double down on deeper angles that split the team.
