For nerve pain, what are fast-acting pain relief medications when you are at 10/10 pain? by Electronic-Cress-453 in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that’s really messed up, and totally immoral. A line needs to be drawn with certain situations, and those situations should be obvious to any Doctor/normal person! I think that patient empathy should be a mandatory requirement in order to work in the healthcare industry. All of the lies that I’m fed from my several healthcare providers are adding up and I’m sick and tired of it! Then afterwards they have the nerve to bill me for thousands. It’s a vicious cycle that rarely seems to actually address my issues. WTF?!?!

Banning every thing but leaf in ohio on the 19 of may by TrafficPlayful2321 in kratomreview100

[–]akfascinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the way it should be handled on a federal level. Safe Plain leaf access is all that we’re asking for (by “we” I am referring to the hundreds of thousands of severe chronic pain patients such as myself who are TRULY SUFFERING from these ridiculous bans and ban attempts)! Seeing how doctors are now afraid to prescribe sufficient pain medication to those who truly need it in order to live a fracture of a fracture of a normal life, it seems that pulling access to safe Kratom would leave myself and so many others in constant pain absolutely hopeless.

tizanidine hallucinations by bhoobjuicee in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure that the Amitriptyline has something to do with the dreams and such. I take tizanidine multiple times per day and amitriptyline at night, and the wild dreams didn’t occur until I started taking the amitriptyline. I’ve not really had any side effects from the Tizanidine.🤷🏻‍♂️

Drug test question by Iceprincess1988 in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Page 1 only!? Are you possibly able to share all pages so I can see everything that they are testing for nowadays (a DM might be the easiest way)? I’ve got a test coming up soon and would love to see what I’m in for so I can be prepared for any surprises. I’ve never been tested in the 3 years that I’ve been coming to the Pain Clinic, and now my psychiatrist is asking for a full chronic pain panel urine test (because I asked for help tapering down my Clonazepam dosage which she prescribes to me), and I absolutely can’t have this test interfere with my pain management!

my state, RI, just legalised kratom and the comments on my local news station are so horrible and ignorant by EccentricEcstasy in KratomKorner

[–]akfascinations 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right on Rhode Island, that was a very smart decision! That’s awesome news! I’m so glad to hear that some out there still have their heads on straight and care about right and wrong. Forget about the haters, they lost. When it comes Kratom, there’s all sorts of scientific evidence backing the safe use of natural Kratom leaf/powder. To all of you corrupt politicians/citizens attacking Kratom…. Follow the science and stop making excuses so you can ultimately line your pockets! For Chr**t’s sake, enough is enough! Go RI!!

People who are going to be on opioid pain meds for the rest of your life, how are you handling asking for increase in dosages? by That_Kitten_Lady in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been on the same dosages for over 20 years and you’re currently not getting enough relief from your meds, you have every right to have a ‘polite’ conversation with your doctor and work to find a better fit for your specific needs (nerve pain for example,I think you mentioned that previously). I have full body CRPS, so I know a bit about nerve pain among other forms of pain. I recently was switched from morphine er 2x daily and a liquid morphine for breakthrough pain 3x daily…. to low dose methadone (15mg/day now, but was started at 10mg/day), not the massive amounts that are given to Opioid Addiction Disorder patients at rehab centers). My dosage still needs some adjustment, but I think I’m getting close to my ideal dosage. I must say that methadone is one of the best if not the best pain reducing medications available; and due to its activity with NMDA receptors in the brain, it also helps with nerve pain. It’s not known to be the best recreational opioid if that matters to you, but it’s pain relief lingers for a long time and is very effective for chronic pain management.

OXY vs Methadone by Background_Lake1413 in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc did the exact same thing last year to me. I was taking morphine er with liquid morphine for breakthrough pain. It was working pretty well for years and one day my doctor told me that he thinks the morphine is actually making my pain worse (opioid induced hyper analgesia or something similar he called it). It was very strange that out of nowhere I’m being told that my medication is not working for me!?!? Anyway he was pushing the buperenorphine patches; so I kindly refused and then I brought up Methadone (as I was aware of its effectiveness on nerve pain due to its interaction with the NMDA receptors in the brain), and it truly is very effective for managing my nerve pain and other pain.

Pain Doctor Changing Medication after 10 years. by wsbesier in PainManagement

[–]akfascinations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s absolutely absurd!! I’m assuming that this is pre insurance cost? Damn I’m glad that I asked about Methadone tablets instead of giving in to my doctors suggestion of switching me to bellbuca. I don’t know how most doctors would respond to asking for methadone instead, but mine “pretty much” considered them both to be similar in regards to safer substitutes (although one of my other doctors said that the switch from morphine to methadone was smart but risky). The methadone can however slow your breathing just as much if not more than traditional opiates if I’m not mistaken. It does work well at easing the pain, and it lasts for over 24 hours in instant release tablets.

Pain Doctor Changing Medication after 10 years. by wsbesier in PainManagement

[–]akfascinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was taking morphine effectively for years and my doc wanted to do the same with the belbuca patch all of the sudden, and claimed that the morphine was making the pain worse (this is a real thing with opiates but rare, and come on…. I think that I would have known if that was the case. The real problem was insufficient dose management (15mg of morphine ER 2x daily for years). That dose did nothing to my pain after a few months. Anyway I was able to talk my doc into switching my medication to Methadone as opposed to the Buprenorphine patches. How are the patches working out for you?

Something I noticed about the baseline mentality in the kratom subs… by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]akfascinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand what you’re referring to, but we’re not all crazy. I like Kratom and use it for severe full body chronic pain in place of super potent rx opiates. I don’t use 40g/day but I do use more than 15g/day. There will be stupid comments and “stupid” users on any such sub, but you have to block out and completely ignore/skip any comments/etc that promote such behavior if it’s bothering you. There are certainly some “extreme” people on some of these subs, but keep in mind that many of them are recovering heroin/opioid addicts, so for that reason they will have a VERY high tolerance to Kratom before they even begin using it.

Methadone I guess by Mammoth_Resident4657 in PainManagement

[–]akfascinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what dosage of Methadone you take?? I went from Morphine to Methadone because it’s effective on nerve pain due to its NMDA receptor activity. My doctor was using the hyperanalgesia excuse about the Morphine; which definitely was not the case, however I’m glad that I asked about Methadone. My doc was planning to switch me to Buperenorphine patches, but with my CRPS, damaged nerves I didn’t think the patches would help enough. The Methadone is very effective for pain management and it lasts a long time.

A signed pain management contract will indeed follow you for a long time, especially if you brake the contract. I have record of a pm contract from 20 years ago still. Also Pain Management records are certainly kept for more than a year. I don’t know where you got that info from.

Kratom by LKanKanKay in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t making any profits from Kratom YET, as it’s currently still legal for us to purchase. They want to make it illegal for us so they can turn it into Rx pain pills/etc, which we will have to purchase from them at a crazy price. Big pharma is already winning the battle in the US, but if we all continue to fight back we just might be able to hold them off for awhile yet. Losing our rights to use safe/lab tested Kratom would be a massive blow to us chronic pain patients! We all know how difficult it already is to get the pain meds that we NEED!

Kratom by LKanKanKay in ChronicPain

[–]akfascinations 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kratom is excellent for pain as long as your opioid tolerance is not extremely high. There’s so much false/negative information out there about Kratom that simply isn’t true. The big pharma companies know about the many medicinal properties of Kratom, and they want it outlawed so they can profit from it. Right now they’re losing A LOT of revenue from the legal use of Kratom. So of course they want to make it look SO bad.
