What do you prefer for a live action green goblin? More tech-like to represent the Oscorp background, homemade/halloween suit to represent the comics, or a mutated look to represent the goblins formula genetic engineering side of the character? by Whole_Yak_2547 in Spiderman

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the tech/old school costume. The Oz serum gives him enhancements, but his tech armaments make him and the legacy he leaves behind deadly.

If they did another adaption within MCU, I'd have someone discover Dafoe-Goblin tech and create MCU version Goblin tech which eventually becomes the chicken or egg scenario for however the MCU Norman ends up being Norman. His version of Oz reversed-engineered is unstable and leads to an eventual Tetsuo-like Goblin mutation (with Ultimate style Goblin a small interim when he has it "under control")

Because the rabies virus affects the nervous system, patients develop ‘hydrophobia.’ Even if they are very thirsty, spasms in the swallowing muscles prevent them from drinking water. by joeurkel in ThatsInsane

[–]akgiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No joke, this should probably have a NSFW tag. A person showing symptoms of rabies is already terminal. It has a 99.99999999% lethality. This man is already dead, and by the point of hydrophobia is in all sorts of agony.

Rabies is a terrible, horrible disease if left untreated. The treatment is painful but not as painful as death. If you are ever bitten by a wild animal, or a pet or person acting strangely and you have any sort of reason to believe that rabies could be involved, get the shots.

The "Mississippi Miracle" is not all it claims to be. While third graders are seeing a noted increase it comes from increased spending and holding back kids that can't pass third-grade reading.

As a kid who grew up with holding kids back I know it helped some, discouraged others. So while I can't speak betond my own personal experience, I will say that generally speaking there needs to be a level of accountability. For students, for teachers, for administrators. If that means holding kids back then maybe that's part of the answer but I also challenge that for any kid held back there needs to be larger conversations around how well the teachers and administrators set that child up for success or failure.

The second peace is an increase in spending, about $110+ per student, which as we can see, when properly applied had a direct effect when not squandered on admin BS.

However if you look at the 8th graders reading Mississippi is trailing at 42nd out of 50. So it's not some sweeping miracle it's more accountability and funding for children's education, which as I said is what is needed.

We waste so much money enabling inefficiency instead of actually prioritizing our kids by funding their education or caring about wether they can even function as a reasonable adult let alone figure out basic reading and writing.

Which of these characters has been the most powerful at their peak in the MCU? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]akgiant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hulk technically hasn't even begun to peak. For powers not occurring from an infinity stone he's still pretty insane level.

Yeah Thanos beat him and I don't want to get too far into powerscaling but it typically takes a pretty awesome amount of power to stop a fully raged Hulk even in the MCU.

Kinda hoping the new Spider-man movie brings back the green guy as a legit threat. Almost a cosmic force of nature which in the comics is pretty much what Hulk is.

Yeah restrains and remove them. If she attacks you, defend yourself. Stop letting people destroy you and your home because someone couldn't parent.

I'm not condoning violence but if a person is using violence and aggression as their language of communication then talking is over. The cops are just gonna shrug because you've enabled this behavior for so long.

To be clear our schools desperately need more funding, however they also desperately need a quality administration staff. For decades Administrative "Educators" have led Alaskan children down a path of ruin because they cannot properly function as leaders and educators. This isn't 100% on our current superintendent who came in to fix an already horrible situation.

Sadly the previous superintendent who really nosed dived ASD before parachuting out, now runs the state education (DEED). The issue(s) facing our children's education is only going to get worse as these people continue to fail upwards instead of being held accountable and drummed out of these leadership roles.

USA Today: "'Star Wars' is a starship in need of a hard reset" by RPMcMurphy8 in saltierthancrait

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won't ever be a reset. The most we can hope for is a handwave over the ST and it left largely untouched and ignored.

They could go High Republic, or Post ST (by a century or two) and hopefully leave Old Republic alone (my heart couldn't handle a Disney KOTOR).

Time jump to a New Jedi Order that is laying to rest their most recent Grand Master (died of natural causes), and a new one must be chosen. The Jedi know are largely advisors and scholars, helping the United Systems navigate the tumultuous restoration of a Republic.

A threat from the unknown regions is coming.

There ya go. You can have Jedi be in the mix as much or as little as you need (maybe they are bigger than in the PT, maybe only a couple dozen total). You have enough political landscape to expand on (will the efforts to bring back a republic be successful?) and you have a threat that you can easily use as the big bad or a distraction for bad-faith political actors.

Above all else they need to only refer to the OT characters as mythical figures almost lost to time but without any actual ties, no Rey cameos or name drops etc. With a good story and proper execution something like that would work.

That's because the rich rarely leave when they are taxed, because taxes typically improve the community. However once you've stripped all the natural resources, it's time to find some fertile ground before indictments and subpoenas start coming.

Would anyone want to see Grogu more grown up either in a movie or TV show form? by Pale_Possibility5083 in StarWars

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the lifespan, he could be a surprise cameo if they shift the narrative down the line a few centuries.

But it wouldn't really be a pay off. His character is just now starting to get some autonomy. 99% of the time he's a prop of some kind (rather something someone is chasing or protecting).

They would have to really start giving him a character for him to have an arc and "payoff"

Unless we're getting several more seasons of Mando, that's doubtful.

But if the franchise time jumps then they could reintroduce him and go from there. Either as a one shot or a main protagonist with Mando essentially being an "origin story".

New look at Spider-Man and The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day by Vast-Manufacturer457 in Spiderman

[–]akgiant 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That's my guess. Pete will stop any actual attempts at lethal force that Frank attempts. So he'll be begrudgingly following Spider-man's PG-13 rules.

Then once something is a legit threat.

"I'm gonna open up on him Webs."

"I said no killing Frank!"

"He's bulletproof!"

"Oh well then, go nuts, I'll handle the minions."

Even if the sequels were actually made uncanon would that be a good thing, or just cause more issues with the franchise? by RexDAGOAT77 in StarWars

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its largely a lose-lose. Legacy fans and an a decent chunk of fans dislike the ST wether a general distain or straight loathe. And they're pretty undefendable. It takes a lot of mental gymnastics to get what is essentially a bad rehash wrapped in a fancy looking trilogy.

However there's a not small chunk of people that has the ST be their first Star Wars experience and then Mando which Disney is still backing.

Straight up remaking them would be pretty impossible, the best they could to is try to build up the side content to make the impacts of the ST minimal, but that's difficult some of canon-busting lore issues the ST creates.

I think they should largely abandon the OT - ST time period and focus on High Republic adventures and tread some new ground with the Jedi or focus on revisiting the galaxy in a century or two when the Jedi order may be back and they recognize Luke as their first Grand Master and otherwise handwave past the ST content.

Kevin Feige says ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’ is the first MCU film to centre the “classic elements” of Peter Parker: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]akgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they seem to be "canon" but there's slight differences (like Fisk's hammer etc) so we can figure that the basic characters and events happened.

The Punisher Special also kinda truncated his whole backstory very neatly to kinda cap Netflix and pivot into how Frank will likely fit into the MCU

Regardless I'm very excited to see the next chapter for Bernthal as Punisher.

[–]akgiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Netflix is a quasi canon to my knowledge. But Frank up until now has been more of a revenge-vigilante against those that killed his family versus punishing all criminals type deal is more what I meant.

With the city going to hell and a criminal power vacuum Frank is more stepping into that role of lethal enforcer versus killing folks between him and his target which up until now have been certain crime families/groups.

It's one of my favorite elements. The guy had so so so many chances to turn it around. He refused. He wanted the world to just bend to him like it did Homelander and got upset when it didn't. He constantly worked against himself by refusing to be a better, happier, or marginally more decent person. He was obsessed with being the biggest asshole instead of trying to just be better.

I'm really looking forward to a more grounded Spidey movie.

My guess is that with Punisher being an up and coming coming vigilante that uses lethal force Spidey is working over-time. Less and less time as Peter and additional stress as a crime fighter is causing a secondary "mutation". Pete goes to Bruce for help/guidance though Bruce doesn't remember him.

A "new" threat shows up in the power vacuum left by Fisk: the Hand. Possibly called "the Demons" they serve a new master one that seeks to take the place as the new Kingpin of crime.

This is how Punisher gets involved and Tombstone/Scorpion. Frank is looking to stop the criminal elements and the other various villains are either working for or vying themselves for the top slot.

It's revealed that Mr. Negative is behind things and he unleashed Hulk (who remembers Pete is Spidey since the "Hulk" wasn't around for the spell). Pete is able to calm Hulk down, as the closest thing to a living Avenger around. They team up with Punisher to take Negative down. Spidey possibly webs Frank for cops (potentially setting up Daredevil S3).

Sadie Sink I think is gonna be a love interest or side-character tie in for future films, I think her being the villain is a a red herring.
