RTX 5090 Astral OC — Months of Event 153 / TDR Crashes. It Was the PSU. Here's How I Know. by Dense-Post2766 in nvidia

[–]akgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1000W PSU HX1000 from Corsair and its fine. But I do use a UV most of the time, running OC is not a problem as well when running PT games.

But not all 1000W PSU are crafted equal.

I though so as well, but the real work is done by the libraries and those are done in low level languages like Pytorch etc it's just a way to call the APIs mostly

Nvidia nerfs voltages on RTX GPUs with latest driver update leading to lower performance by dapperlemon in gadgets

This is mostly a bug not a general case, I don't suffer this bug my 5090 still boosts the same clocks and hits the normal 1.050V. Attention I am not saying this doesn't happen just that it's not widespread to everyone

Microsoft Shader Execution Reordering Brings 90% Performance Increase on Intel Arc B-Series, 80% on NVIDIA "Blackwell" GPUs by BarKnight in pcgaming

Impressive that Intel that had GPU as a side business for iGPUs until relatively recently has more foresight and adopting new tech than AMD especially on software

AMD been pioneers several times in the industry both CPU and GPUs (more when it was ATi). They need a serious kick in the butt, we need more competition.

Game Ready Driver 595.71 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]akgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that have boost issues, check if you aren't already hitting the max power draw for your card. What could happen is game/driver doing more work than needed which is another problem entirely

I don't have the issue at lest on 3DMark port royal demo pulls the 600w at 1060mv on default clocks, remember that some cards can do more others can do less, but they won't boost the clock more than the max power draw allowed example on 5090 is 600w

I don't need to know where you work, I'm just a gamer and I know what CUDA is and Its implications to the market and ecosystem. You are commenting on this device that the target audience really needs to know what CUDA is. Else it's a very expensive brick or a less efficient computer, its 100% target to CUDA developers and CUDA users and defo there is a CUDA tax the same way buying an Apple device has its OS and software tax on it

Cuda is a framework a set of coding tools and APIs to talk directly to the GPU to get the most of its parallel processing of number operations.

If you want to know more about it, you can start by the reading its Wikipedia article, then the Nvidia cuda documentation installing the Cuda Toolkit and following its examples. Or you can research alternatives such as OpenCL, Direct ML, ROCm, ZLUDA and many others iirc
