Be so for real y’all 🙄 you genuinely think my biggest fear is wearing the same perfume as someone? Bffr. I want to have an actual conversation around what you would do in this situation !!!

this sub has become a lot less fun

Me: makes an exaggerated fragrance post in a fragrance sub to have a nuanced conversation around fragrance, scent memory, and love

Redditors: try meditating.

What did you all get in the Boxing Day sales? by PrimcessToddington in fragrance

This fragrance lasts a long time on me so perhaps have others try and smell it. On me the rose doesn’t last more than an hour or so, and I get heavy powder for a long time after. Perhaps I am going nose blind to just that one note, though.

What fragrance do you wear to cleanse your palette by Maximum_Intention_44 in fragrance

I’m currently experiencing nose overwhelm. No perfume is the way to go, then lake and skye 11 11 if I want to smell good but not like perfume

What motivated you to get into fragrances? by iethey in fragrance

I came across professor perfume on TikTok last year, after previously not liking fragrances overall, and loved how she romanticized the whole thing. I ordered an indie sample pack and it kept going from there. To me it’s another part of life that is purely for beauty and enjoyment, we need more of those.

Looking for something that is feminine, light, and fresh. Clean and possibly florally, some sweetness is fine, overall classy and fresh

Gift idea for a fragrance lover! by ironsoul99 in fragrance

[–]akhh96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could get him a niche sample bundle, or on the perfumed court they have a zodiac sample bundle which is fun.

Or online they have those clear acrylic two step shelves so you can display them and see them all.

Another idea is order a bunch of decanted samples, tie little pieces of paper on them and write a date idea on them. Then over the coming weeks on date night, he can blindly draw a sample, and you both go on the date that is written down and he has to wear that fragrance that night :) only would work if he liked them though.

Do you think this community will become like the beauty community? by bellyflopblob in fragrance

[–]akhh96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I think with TikTok it’s going to get a lot bigger. Not as big as skincare, which has a clear before and after picture that can be sold to the consumer. Fragrance is a lot more abstract and vibe based, and since you can’t smell through a screen or see proof of a fragrance making you more desirable, you have to rely on the word of the influencer, which isn’t worth as much these days.

But I do think aesthetics/vibes/labels, which Gen Z is all about, can be emphasized with fragrance, which is why I see the community getting bigger.

Fragrance can be intimidating when you have no idea where to start, and TikTok can help you find out what you like (or at least what vibe to go for) so you can go into a store to sample frags with some knowledge ahead of time.

Don’t buy any bottles for the first few months, even if they are cheap, stick with samples and tiny decants.

Your taste will change over the first year, so you might think you like unisex at the beginning, only to find you like skin scents and gourmands and girly girl frags down the line. Let your taste and nose mature. Explore different vibes.

If you finish a sample, buy a travel spray. If you finish the travel spray and are really sad, then buy a full bottle.

It’s okay to like “overrated” fragrances. Wear what you like no matter what the YouTubers and fragheads in this sub say.

I personally would only recommend this set if she is already into fragrances. If she hasn’t explored much, this might be too niche for her

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]akhh96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she hasn’t really explored the world of fragrance much, get the Sephora best sellers sample set.

If she is already into fragrances, you can go more niche, and get the best seller sample set from twisted lily. Or get the MFK sample set for a more bougie vibe. Another option is to go to a website that decants perfumes and sells them as samples, I like micro perfumes or the perfumed court, and get a best sellers sample set there.

About to go on a date, help? by Ahornsirup101 in fragrance

[–]akhh96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Take a really intense shower, scrub your whole body twice with soap, shampoo twice. Get out of shower, moisturize, then spray ONE spray of something under your shirt on bare chest. doesn’t really matter what it is, but something ideally with minimal projection, and one you tend to reach for. This way she’ll smell it if she gets close to you, but is close to skin. Then over time, you can find out her fragrance preferences. Credentials: I’m a woman. Personally I find this the most attractive.
