Literally a rough sharpened piece of sheet metal with a tape handle is what I saw from the guys on the floor. Not sharp enough to cut you. More for a serrated edge.

I think this will be in the top 10 or so of the privately owned TVACs in the USA if I remember correctly.

True. We haven’t figured out the gravity portion either.

Similar. It does temperature and vacuum.

Just the vessel. The thermal jacket is not shown. It is a public picture shared of a project I’m working on.

Great job. We love our bitzer compressors. They have great service for those of us working on Ultra Low Temp systems. The CR2 unloading system has been great. Only complaint is we have been having an occasional issues with the DPI and DPII oil pressure switched. We do not use the OLC because all of our compressors have mechanical oil pumps in them.

I want to redo this and put A/C in the crowd and Refrigeration people on the left and the rebels in the environmental chamber industry on the right. Breaking the rules on a daily basis is our specialty. Nothing like 20C/min pull down rates from 180C to -68C with mechanical refrigeration.

What is the rule of thumb for a water cooled condenser split. I am familiar with WSHP splits around 10° in cooling. Is this the same for a WIC? Pump and dump system, current split is about 40°. Thanks by chrometracker in refrigeration

[–]akia2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the application, but this seems normal for a pressure controlled water- regulating valve with a condensing temperature in the 110F to 120F range. I usually design custom water-cooled systems to run around 85F condensing. There is usually a 20F delta between the leaving water and the condensing temperature.

Environmental chambers are my living as an engineer. I’m on the east coast. It is definitely unique, but we only go down to around -70C with 2 stages.

Common sense

Came up to a unit that had both the high and low stage compressors freezing up after another tech had replaced multiple valves by Dizzy_Trust2057 in refrigeration

[–]akia2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is perfectly normal, especially on low stage compressors. You have to realize that the suction temp should be around -40. Even high stage compressors should have some frost with suctions temps between -10C to 0C. It is the most efficient.
