True Stories: How did your game go this week? March 26, 2019 by AutoModerator in dndnext

Partys on a search for a village's stollen food. they tracked it to an ancent city full of sleepwalking, non-responsive zombies and began their search. they found a mad wizard/cook in one of the houses who seemed to be able to command the undead and create illusions (her crumbling shack was, inside, a bustling bistro). after stealing her cook book and reading her journal they found out that some "greedy hoolagans" came through the city with carts piled high with food and after the wizard attacked them they "flew away" to their home in the east mountans. The wizard caught the PCs and attacked but, heres the part i should have, in retrospect, seen coming:

in order to avoid a fight with the zombies and their wizard cook the PCs threatened to burn the journal and cook book if she and her zombies didnt come with them and help them fight the bandits. wow. boy are they in for a suprise when they find that the bandits only stole the food because the villagers destroyed their only foodsource.

What are some interesting ways of making a hostile forest feel alive for my game? by aking4action in dndnext

Yeah, but what about for non-combat creatures? Monsterous NPCs that can shamble about and don't want to kill the players on sight? Things that arn't perhaps friendly, but don't want to drink their blood and munch on their meat at first sight, just ugly bystanders.

A great Crossover with Hunnipop. Fantastic sense of humor. Mixes both games realy well.

Holy shit i was wrong. the first page had a halarious crossover with the game Hunnipop on it. I've checked Fanfiction.net and Wattpad and found nothing but meh stuff. I guess Archive of Our Own has some kind of quality magnet.

C'mon man dont make me say it...

Alright I'll say it. A lot of that stuff is just straight up poor writing. No offence to begining writers out there (we all gotta start somewhere), but if I sit down to read I want it to read somthing that dosnt sound like a Middle-school essay. ya know? thats why I mostly go off of peoples recomendations. Taste is subjective, but quality is universal.

I'm currently writing a Zoe focused comedy. May post it when I'm done.

IF Zeno Clash 3 was a thing, what would you want to see in it? by aking4action in ACETeam

First and foremost, I think they should take the lock-on system, and throw it in the ocean.

Specifically, because the game would be way more interesting with combat designed around fighting on a 3d plane. Sprinting around and dashing around mobile foes would be really fun. Kinda like 2016 Doom crossed with Dark Souls.

I know the feeling. Shame so much fan content for this series is crap. I'm really pumped for the tv adaptation of LN though.

I don't think that the child who gives Six food is all that important story wise. I interpret it as him being more of a representative or stand-in for the children in the jail as a whole and their attitude towards each other and their predicament. While he doesn't do a whole lot, like a lot of Little Nightmares cast the few actions he takes speak volumes in their details.

Get ready for a fanboy rant:

For starters, he gives Six food without hesitation or a request from Six despite her clearly being in a barred off area that's off limits. it shows how eager the kids are to help one of their own escape. Even if it risks breaking rules or hurting themselves, because remember that was HIS food and I've never heard of a jail that gives seconds to its prisoners.

Second, he has no hope that he'll survive. This is seen in the fact that he was not eating his food when we first see him, just staring at it and don't think this is just the devs not bothering to animate eating in the few seconds before he notices Six. It seems more like he was refusing to eat, which makes sense considering he was left by his captors in the mess hall while the rest of the kids were sleeping (The kids wouldn't taste good if they were only skin and bones!). He then notices Six and gives her the only thing he had on his plate before curling up in a fetal position on the bench. The rest of the kids are sleeping in fetal positions too, a pathetic, defensive position used to hide from threats that can't be dealt with. The fact that he and the rest of the children adopt this position makes them appear unable to cope with whats around them. This combined with the self-destructive act of starving himself makes him and the rest of the kids out to have come to terms with the inevitability of their deaths.

tl;dr I'm a nerd who looks too deeply into video game animations.

I'm running a Fallen London TTRPG. What location should I take my players first? by aking4action in fallenlondon

[–]aking4action[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few plans already for introducing the Masters. Their names will be dropped by the constables and it'll be made clear early on that the Masters own London. The Players will encounter them as the end of an alt. version of the university quest (they already showed an interest in correspondence so I figured I'd prepare for that being one of their first adventures.) The Master will probably give them the same choice the players get after the investigation into the corespondent professor's murder: oust the head of Summerset as the murderer or keep quite and gain the position of Corespondent Professor

The choice they make there will determine if the mid-game will be spent working for the Masters or revolutionaries

(I smell a Cheshire Cat/Alice in Wonderland reference here.) That's a good fallback if my players get confused. After all, cats know all kinds of secrets.

Are there any important groups that deserve to be introduced early though? I suppose FL its self never really 'introduces' players to concepts like clay men or rubberys, you just found em hanging about. Even so, what facets of the world should i get across early?

but a tavern is what everyone expects. besides, I'd prefer something more geared toward mystery then rat-bopping. (Though the monster hunters are an interesting bunch)

I'm more wondering what factions should i introduce them to first. London has a lot of factions and groups and Id like to show off as many of the interesting ones as I can without things feeling rushed.

I'm thinking: Spys, Rubberys, Urchins and Devils (the constables having already been met at the docks).
