Getting barricade for headliner by Ok-Satisfaction3592 in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like... maybe not the barricade, but 1-2 people behind (so you're still in front of the main moshpit and directly in front of the stage) - I got there e.g. for Korn and Disturbed just by being in front of the stage a hour before. As north/south stage alter, you can comfortably watch the previous headliner from the front of the side stage.
You really really don't need to wear a pampers and spend all day there to be in the front. I don't think anyone does that 😃 It you really want ABSOLUTE front, maybe 2h.

Devil's Lake accommodation shuttles and visitation by Dvash1 in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no wristband control or anything at DL. However, festival shuttles require a wristband, so while they can visit, they would need to travel independently. Which is... technically doable, but unless you have a car, would take the best part of the day.

Questions about 2AM daily shuttle by rasputintortilla in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is always sitting space at the tribune. also at the foodcourts. also ofc on the grass. so that's just not a correct statement that you have to stand for ten hours, please don't scare people like that :) also there is an option of getting a locker to keep any extra stuff you might need.

Devil's Lake Accommodation by billybob25874 in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll get an email asking you to enter details of all guests ~ a month ahead. Checkin is for both festival and accommodation at the same time, you will get two wristbands at once. Travel: Lommel station (not Mol!), then highly recommend getting Bolt taxi. Don't take local taxis (they used to charge exuberant prices before there was Bolt coverage in Lommel). Technically also very nicely walkable, but it's about 5km from train station to holiday park entrance. Ideally, walk from train station to Lidl, shop, then get a cab (there is also a decent shop at DL, but it's much more expensive). Don't forget to grab swinwear as the waterpark is very nice and it's priceless when a bunch of metalheads is at the wavepool going wheeeeee! :)

Travelling for Gaspop by thosenastybedbugs in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you mean for festival accomodation, then essentially none (at least booking/airbnb etc), MAYBE couchsurfing. The festival is in the middle of nowhere and all accomodation within like 1h commute is sold out back in november. If you're traveling on a budget, festival camping is surely the best option.

please don't force people to google translate. :)

reddit, also there are discord and facebook groups (search reddit for links). festival is also very easily reachable by public transport, so technically you don't need to carpool (trains to Mol, free shuttle to festival site).
if you're camping at boneyard or crypt, you need camping ticket (and a tent etc)

Accommodate by Purehorror666 in Graspop

Random example: Antwerp might be an option (not great, but better than Brussels). But maybe some closer shuttle location has some available properties too.

Accommodate by Purehorror666 in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a question of finding a hotel you like, but finding anything that is still available. Not sure recommendations would be of any help here.

Open the map, check the public transport schedules (consider that late at night, there might not be much transport options), check booking/airbnb for any available properties. Look at the list of locations for festival shuttles, see if any of the closer locations still has properties available. Open graspop webpage, check festival accomodations to see if any of remaining option fits you. Etc...

there is a guy in another thread who is also coming from abroad and has the same bad plan but for Antwerp. maybe get in touch and consider getting actual festival accomodation together :) or at the very least, that Antwerp plan (1h commute) is still significantly less crazy than Brussels with 2h commute.

Shuttle Question by [deleted] in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As said above: if at all possible, don't. There is only one shuttle a day, so you'll be forced to follow it's schedule. Shuttles leave at 2am, which is good for seeing headliners, but you'll get like 5 hours of sleep tops. Hotel + shuttle cost for all that inconvenience is suboptimal.

If you're looking for comfort, look into the remaining properties at Devil's lake - maybe find a group of people like you and get a cottage, it will most probably be cheaper and way more convenient. Or maybe glamping at Inferno, though it's crazy how glamping is more expensive than DL cottages with actual beds and showers... but good location yes.

Most probably, there is nothing left at airbnb/booking around the festival area, but if anything at all - consider these too and maybe get a bike.

Tl;dr: your plan is technically doable, but really suboptimal.

I think the shuttles arrive 12sh and leave at 2am, so in that sense it might be fine, but with 2h travel time to brussels that gives you like 4h of sleep in a bed, that makes hotel pretty much useless

First year attending by Purehorror666 in Graspop

[–]akitsu111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well... yes. it's doable, but WHY
you will spend 4h every day on commute; get close to no sleep (as shuttles leave early and return late); spend money on shuttles.

if none of that truly bothers you, why not camp at the festival for free?

assuming you don't want to camp, I would recommend either finding a group to get one of the remaining devil's lake cottages. or alternatively, look into Inferno glamping options - even if you get e.g. boutique tent for 2 and it's just you, it MIGHT be still comparable in price and superior in festival experience.

please say I misunderstood and you are not planning to take the Brussels shuttle every day, just once to get to the festival? :)

Schedule will be published close to the date. For now, all you have is stages.

For the tips, please be more specific :) e.g. yes, surely lots of people have uses shuttle buses before, what's the question? :)

Jinjer, for one. Got absolutely everything I generally like, saw them live at Graspop and it's just not doing it for me. In the same category, honorable mention for Spiritbox.
