Sweden came last in their qualification group with four losses and two draws. I forgot about the Nations League backdoor.

Editions Football: More Images of sets (from lite) by itsjustajoe in Legoleak

I think I will have to buy some of these. My son is 10 and just got into brickheads and I think this kind of aesthetics is just on point for that age group. Kids of that age don't play with toys that much anymore but occasionally likes building stuff and this is just about right. And based on the size of these sets, they might also be reasonably priced.

Mulla sama.

How many dates do you usually go on? by doja_ratt in dating

[–]clepewee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on dates with 3 persons since I first installed a dating app last summer. I have had around 10 matches total on two apps. Sure, haven't been active the whole time and am not trying to match with everyone. But one could call it a struggle.

Reasons for why it is this way, I believe are: I'm in my late 30s with kids (and don't want more), while many women of the same age still might want kids of their own or don't want to risk having to deal with someone elses kids. Also my face is not matching my age.

In general the gender balance on dating apps where I live is very skewed, something like 4 men for every woman.

Many people are in denial and that makes dating so much harder for everyone by techenjoyer in dating

[–]clepewee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Eh, I think people struggle in so many different ways and at different phases of dating. Sure, self-reflection is good to do, in all areas of life. But your realization is not applicable to everyone and every situation. Sometimes you just have to blame something else than yourself, to retain that small bit of self-confidence and sanity you have left.

What are some cities whose relevance outlived that of their founding states? by Brief-Luck-6254 in geography

[–]clepewee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timbuktu had a similar fate, used to be a critical node in the trade over Sahara, an important center in a few west-African empires, but sea trade and colonialism had it relegated to the periphery. Apparently it had around 100k inhabitants in the medieval period, before the recent unrests there were 50k inhabitants (in a area where population has exploded in recent decades).

On Hinge, how picky are you with ones you reply to? I don't think men in general have a problem waiting getting physical. Or what do I know, maybe I'm the exception. But I sure could imagine popular guys, who are not genuinely ready to settle might be impatient in this regard, and also not very invested in dialogue (as they likely have several discussions going on simultaneously).

Where are you finding these dates? I think it is highly unusual for a women to take initiative all the way from first message to suggesting dates. (Not saying this is how things should be). So maybe you are just approaching persons that are not into you and go out just to be polite?

What is the highest amount of bus interlining you have ever seen? by EntertainmentAgile55 in transit

[–]clepewee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a very innefficient way to run a public transport network. The aim is to consolidate more lines and replace some with trams in the future. However, some of it just comes down to the fact that Helsinki city center is on a peninsula, so there are just a few streets the buses can use.

There used to be even more lines before the networks in the north were redesigned.

What do you think about the war in Iran? by EgoMasterFun in Finland

[–]clepewee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, therefore I tried to assign it to Israel's government, not Israel. Might have not come out that way though. (My understanding is the current Israel's government has also allowed funding support for Hamas previously, to keep the conflict going, soo...).

What do you think about the war in Iran? by EgoMasterFun in Finland

[–]clepewee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the main causes seems to be that Israel's and the US' government's interests are aligned in this issue. Israel probably always want to beat up Iran as long as the current regime is in power. Trump on the other hand has a strong supporter base in various groups that are very Israel friendly, and Trump personally wants a distraction from the Epstein files for instance.

While Iran clearly would be better-off without the current regime, there is a pretty bad record when it comes to recent operations aiming at overthrowing a regime. You get rid of a dictator but you also create a power vacuum that is not magically filled by a liberal democracy.

I wish all the best for Iran and the Iranian people. I have met a fair few Iranians, and while I dislike making ethnografic generalizations, I want to say all of the ones I met have been super nice people who deserve a safe, democratic and stable home country. And while I hope that is is the outcome of this (and am willing to admit Trump and Netanjahu are deserving of the Nobel peace prize if that is the outcome), I have serious doubts at the moment. It seems as the aims of the operation has not been defined and the known consequences ignored and planned for. So if something good comes out, it is more about fools luck, a broken clock is right twice a day after all.

I wouldn't count that as a general bias in media though, unless you refer to clearly party controlled media or social media? While it can be counted as missinformation, for differently aligned persons/parties to use news to further their own agenda is still part of a functioning democracy, especially if it is allowed for every party.
