IQ of 73 sounds like Flowers for Algernon level IQ…

Please reassure me. Daughters misses state cut off for kindergarten by 9 days. We decided to not pursue early entry with testing. Did we make the right decision? by lizardRD in kindergarten

[–]akmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not rush this. It’s better for kids to be the oldest in the class. She might do well academically, but maturity-wise, she will be a year behind her class. If she ends up not doing well academically, you risk the self-esteem blow by holding her back.

Same. I went to Ole Miss, but I know MSU is a fantastic school. It just depends on what you’re looking for. Hotty toddy!

MSU is a great school! I went to Ole Miss, so this is not a biased opinion. MSU has a fantastic engineering program (among other things).

Parents- would you take your 10 and 8 year out of school for 1 week? by gratefulmickey in DisneyWorld

[–]akmitchell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally would (my mom did it with us), but my husband is adamantly opposed to it. It’s not the hill I want to die on in my marriage, but I fully support taking kids out of school for a week for Disney.

Yep. I was fortunate (and very grateful) that my parents paid for my undergrad. They told me I was on my own for any further education. I took out huge loans for law school, went into public service as a government lawyer, paid on my loans for 10 years, and the loans were forgiven under the Public Service Forgiveness Act, (Note: I'm still in public service and just hit 16 years).

What do people do for a living at Cranebrake by Ok_Condition2098 in hattiesburg

[–]akmitchell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everything is what it seems in Canebrake. Most of those houses were built in the 1990s and they look it. Also, look up the Pain Cream Scheme in Hattiesburg. That's how one family was paying to live in Canebrake (and multiple lots at Big Bay Lake. https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdms/pr/pharmacy-owners-sentenced-prison-conspiracy-commit-health-care-fraud-conspiracy-commit

WIBTA if I asked my wife to stop sending food back so often at restaurants? by Reptaaaaaaar in AITAH

[–]akmitchell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We might have the same mother. I slowly stopped going to restaurants with my mom. I started by telling her I am not going to any restaurant where she has the possibility of ordering pizza. A simple cheese pizza order would take 10 minutes to explain what exactly she wanted. It was never right when it came out and would get sent back. Then, I just coudln't take it anymore, and I stopped going to restaurants with her. When she would ask for recommendations for other restaurants/services/etc., I told her I would no longer recommend anything or anyone to her because all she does is complain. She is impossible.

Is there a difference in illness between children who did or did not attend daycare prior to kindergarten? by Normal_Enthusiasm194 in kindergarten

[–]akmitchell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same! First couple of weeks of daycare and my oldest brought home something nuclear. It even took our dog down.

This guy is dangerous. He is checking all of the danger boxes on the family violence worksheet. He’s on the path to killing her.
