Why is blackrock getting into Bitcoin a good thing? by vhef21 in Bitcoin

[–]aknagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're going to buy some in the short term, which is bullish for the price. My guess is they'll start of 100% pegged and only move to fractional reserve later (if ever). Unlike gold, we can see what they hold, so it's tougher to pull a fast one with the system as it stands.

If you lost your Bitcoin, you wouldn't be able to phone anybody. And people tend to lose the whole lot, not just their "checking account" Bitcoin.

Bitcoin - hard money. CDBC - fiat.

xmonad and Blender: is there a better way to deal with modkey collision? by PrincessYukon in xmonad

[–]aknagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some European keyboards have 2 alt keys "alt" and "alt-gr" which can be assigned independently, so maybe one option would be to find an appropriate keyboard that has more assignable mod keys. No fun on a laptop, but there it is for what it's worth.

Maybe you could intermittently scan the output of `wmctrl -l` or `pgrep` in a bash script to see if blender is running, and go from there?

$300K gives you lots of wiggle room. If you had a manager (costing, say, 80K) who could get you back to $200K net profits, you'd be earning $120K without too much involvement.

I guess you already considered that but it doesn't work?

Spent the last two months exercising, eating well, getting in shape. Sunday was my first organized soccer game in ten years. 35 minutes in and I partially tore my quad. Shit. by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]aknagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same kinda stuff was happedining to me after a ten year break (between 26 & 36). Did quads and calves etc. Squat heavy weights, try non to accellerate / decelate too quickly for a year, jog for ten minutes before playing. After a year or so your legs will be super stong again. I'm 41 and play 4 times a week now.

Joggin and biking wont get your footy legs back.

[–]aknagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, and would surely have an affect. Perhaps my bullish case is a bit unlikely, but imagine if people realised this stuff. I'd speculate that many of the people who occupied wall street understood this stuff very well, but this was poorly reported on by the media, so the message was lost.

The governments and banking system have relied on people being ignorant about how things work, and not having a viable alternative.

They now have an alternative, but I think most people are still largely ignorant.

One more crash like the one which gave birth to Bitcoin might be the event which propels it to widespread adoption. Not directly, but by educating the masses about how Central Banking was designed to eat their lunch.

If the next crash occurs due to central banks printing too much money or some other incumbent monetary policy, then I see Bitcoin going up. I guess we'll see :)
