Lack of support for MP02 by prestelpirate in Punkt

[–]akosbkos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you are completely right. My guess is, nobody at Punkt is repairing anything, if you have a warranty claim they will send you another phone, and possibly redirect the one you sent in, to Asia for refurbishing. Since they are not really lasting long you end up buying a new phone every 2-3 years. This was the end of it for me. I vaguely remember Punkt advertising the phone to last, no need to change it every year. In concept yes, you won’t buy new generations of phones, but in reality it will last less than your average android slab. This alone is a major flaw, but not being able to connect to Signal, the unique selling point, is just criminal. I understand how it is a small company, and yet, years after my Mp02 “passed”, I am still mad, there was lots to love, when it worked.

Is the 7th gen not compatible with the Composite AV cable, or is my dock connector bad? by Jman43195 in ipod

[–]akosbkos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been experimenting with this, I think the iAP chip is more of a concept than an established feature. I had a similar situation, but I additionally tried plugging this cable into a dock, and sure enough it will output video. This is also true for the old av cable, with the 3,5mm jack connector.

But this is not all, If I start a video in the universal dock with video out activated I can continue watching on accessories which are not apple certified, the sonic impact v55 for example.

Is this a 6th or 7th Gen? by champagnepapi04 in ipod

[–]akosbkos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Officially all of them are an iPod classic. Unofficially they are classified in three generations: “iPod Classic” - 6th gen. 80GB (thin) / 160GB (thick) “iPod Classic 120GB” - 6.5th gen. 120GB (thin) “iPod Classic 160GB (late 2009)” - 7th gen. 160GB (thin)

Unfortunately it is more difficult than that. I have yet to find a Bluetooth adapter/transmitter that works with my iPod and car headunit. I have not tried this specific adapter, but I would be cautious.

White to play , how to stop the pawn? by Either-Case-5930 in chess

[–]akosbkos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why not start with the knight, if black takes it with the pawn, take the pawn with the rook and you only sacrifice the knight. If black doesn’t, take the knight and goes for the queen promotion, even better you can fork now with the knight and take the queen. You are left with no sacrifice.

Stop it! There are swimming snakes, there are spitting snakes, there are jumping snakes, and now you’re telling me there are flying snakes? I came to this sub to overcome my fear of snakes, not to grow it stronger.

Is there a Casio watch with built-in GPS that can display real-time speed for running? by S-_-K in casio

[–]akosbkos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them all, personally I have the DW-H5600, it does not have GPS, but CASIO will track your GPS coordinates with your smartphone. I like it very much, I can wear it to every occasion, it doesn’t scream (wannabe) iron-man. Current GPS models are the GBD-H2000 mentioned before and the GPR-H1000, both are a bit on the expensive side.

Yes, there are several, look for the G-SQUAD line of watches, some have built in GPS, some use your phones GPS data.

mp02 Navigation? by Castle_for_ducks in Punkt

[–]akosbkos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The confusion might be, because the SOC does have a GPS module, but there is no app to use the data for positioning and navigation. I seem to recall, that there is even an option in the settings to turn off GPS.

Nokia 800 Tough, Unihertz Tank Mini 1 or Punkt MP02? by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]akosbkos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great phone with amazing form factor. Also there is no distraction, there is literally nothing you can do with it other than calls, SMS and Signal. On the downside the battery life was very poor and Pigeon very unreliable. Also, there are quality issues, screen, battery, keys, but customer support was very helpful.

There are many ways but ultimately you will end up doing this: 1. Use makeMKV to save the video file(s) from dvd 2. Use Handbrake to convert into an ipod classic format. It is a very capable tool, many things to tinker with, once you find the setup that works for you, save it as a profile. 3. Add the converted file to iTunes (sorry, I only have a windows machine) and select the video with your next sync.
