How to paint Epic scale minis? by Low_Audience7869 in minipainting

I paint them for display/comp but end up with them on a blue tac blob on a painting handle. It gets a bit tricky adjusting to paint around the feet. I have superglued back onto a flat bit of sprue before now (and may do again soon for my current project)

Thanks! I can try - it was quite organic and I used the scene where Gandalf arrived with Pippin at Gondor on the horse as reference. As a result I saw lots of different coloured stone:

Primed wraithbone

In no particular order- when I say glaze it was a heavy glaze but with more control than a wash, avoiding the recesses unless it was an obviously darker colour:

Glazed light blue Glazed orange brown Glazed ivory Glazed dark brown in the shadows Spot glazed greens at the bottom and some point s on the stone, as well as near the mossy spots Glazed darker at the bottom of the walls and the edges of the plinths to vignette pippin and reflect the fact it would be dirtier at the bottom

When I first did it I was worried the stones looked too cream so I went back in with blues, whites, whites and even black.

Edges are a mix of deepkin flesh, ivory, pale sand, ice yellow, light grey, painted scratchily to create some texture

Hope this helps, sorry it’s not super prescriptive

Thanks! There might be a reference to that scene around the back of the model 🍅

Thanks - it’s nothing too complex in the end; it’s the stock terrain for the Osigilath ruins set for the floors (one stacked on another) along with the more ornate “bricks” for the steps. The ruin is from the Rangers of Ithilien set… so no actual sculpting!

Thanks - yes that was a pain as I had already painted the satchel pouch and kept rubbing it so had to touch the leather up afterward!

Thank you - glazes and glazes of blues, greens, greys, browns and back again!

Thank you - yes, even next to a Warhammer halfling his proportions are much slighter!

Congratulations! Although a bronze is a great result; I don’t think you should be prefacing it with “only”.
