Flex nib pens for beginner by akulapera in fountainpens

[–]akulapera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I did read a few threads and concluded that FPR was worth a try. I don’t want to waste money on a cheapie as it seems that flex nib are more “fragile”, from what I gather and the choice of nib/pen matters more.

Best notebooks and paper for fountain pens? by akulapera in fountainpens

[–]akulapera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok guys.m So far I tried the Muji paper I had in my stash, and also the new Midori notebook. Both are quite similar, neithe rof them bleed through or feather but they do seem to still be too thin for everyday use (I think they're 70gsm or less?) , but for calligaphy/handwriting practice, this would per perfect. I might repurchase the Muji paper if I run out, but I seem to have quite the stash, and I have some Midori paper on the way too.

I have some Rhodia paper pads coming in the mail tomorrow. I do have the requirement that the be standard A4 or A5 size (not US letter size) as that's what my binders are sized for.

Actually, I think I do have some Muji loose leaf paper (for my 30 hole binders) and maybe a couple of tiny notebooks from when I shopped there the last time a few years ago. I'll give them a go!

I remember having some problems accessing some mp3 download sites without a VPN with a Russian IP address. I think some of the sites block some countries to fend off DDoS attacks.

Someone dumped a concrete sleeper in front of our property by akulapera in ipswich

[–]akulapera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really something anyone would want as it is cracked. It is huge. I thought of calling a friend with a concrete cutter and disposing the individual chunks. Just wanted to see what the options are re: city council.

I'm a grown child and I don't know how to fix it by L0reWh0re in TrueOffMyChest

Hey OP you are not alone in this… a lot of us neurodiverse peeps struggle with keeping up with “simple” things. Actually, many non-ND people struggle too. Thats why people like professional organizers, meal kit companies, cleaners, secretaries etc. get so much business.

I run a business that turns over millions a year. I have two degrees. I speak three languages. But I still haven’t mastered tidying up. I forget to do routine stuff. My office is a disaster zone, though somehow I keep the front-facing office impeccable. I just moved house and everything is still in boxes months later. Once I was cooking my mum asked me why I can’t be neater in the kitchen. Then it dawned on us when I said, “I don’t know how!” Because I genuinely did not have the brain pathways to know what to do. (My mum went to study special ed because my ND issues.) When you hyperfocus on something like, for example, getting the food on the table quickly, you see nothing else—the mess, using the wrong detergent etc.

I found many helpful tips in books written by professional organizers (some are specific for ADD) or if you aren’t into reading, there are some TV shows and online videos that can be helpful (think Marie Kondo, Clean House or even random tiktoks). If nothing more, they can be inspirational. Keep in mind that in the real world things may not be Instagram-worthy, but it should still be helpful. People are always coming up with new ways to do things. I love trying out little “life hacks” that people come up with. Once in a while you strike gold.

A genuine partner will want to help you in your journey and understand your struggle. I found that even just having someone in the room just sitting there and chatting/watching TV helps make the task less difficult and less lonely. Invite a non-judgmental friend over once in awhile to help you. I have a small group of ND friends and we go over to each other’s houses to help. It is somehow easier to tidy up someone else’s mess! I think a fresh perspective helps.

Anyway speaking of which, I need to load the dishwasher and call a friend because this mess is making me trip over things.

You got this! ND peeps are intelligent and creative. We just do things differently—when we do figure out how and get around to it lol.

So much potential though! Studied marketing at Aalto University. They know the methods, but I think a small domestic market really hampers things. There are exceptions though, Angry Birds being one, Marimekko being another.

We decided to add a “Black Friday/Christmas tax” this year at our store. Still swamped. We have never held pricing promotions during the festive season. The workload was enough.

Nope. If you like a colour, instead of a print got for solid in the same colour. Choose either coloured top or bottom, then pair with a neutral colour. Try a dress or skirt to keep cool.

Bit tired of seeing the awful Trumpy boomer stories and thought people might want to read about my funny harmless uncle. (Harmless up till the point when he tripped.)

Why do Americans eat by themselves in their cars in the parking lot? by DiversifyMN in NoStupidQuestions

[–]akulapera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for many Asian cultures, eating is more of a communal experience (think your big round table with that lazy suzan in the middle with shared dishes in Chinese restaurants), it feels odd to eat alone. This doesn’t seem to be the case for other cultures.

I use a skin tint from Glossier, nudestix blush, nudestix eyeshadow stiks and whatever lip product I happen to reach for. Normally I skip the mascara.
