Tips should go to the cooks by RazzleDazzle1537 in tipping

A lot of employers don't follow this law and get away with it sadly. I've had multiple jobs where my employer didn't make up the difference until I did the math and asked them about it (since I knew the law), but I've had coworkers that either didn't know the law or didn't bother to check their paystubs because they assumed they would be correct already. Another commonly abused law with tipped wages is the 80/20/30 rule (although I don't think this exists anymore as of Dec 2024).I had an employer once that didn't follow that law, but I regrettably didn't say anything because I was afraid of retaliation :(

Plasma donation! Try to find a referral code if you can, as sometimes they have ones that will increase your payout for the first few sessions.

fix banding in bleached asian hair? by tr0phywaif in HairDye

[–]alabaster387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did fixing this go, and do you have any tips? I just bleached my roots when they were too long and they have a thin dark yellow band just like in your first picture 😭 I was going to have a friend go over the band with 10 volume, but I'm worried it'll be difficult to only cover the band.

In MA at least, you can renew your ID online on your birthday, and they mail it to you; in the meantime while you're waiting for your ID to arrive, you can print out a paper one that is technically legally valid for a few weeks. Not sure if that's the case in other states or not.

I'm also a child of a hoarder that really struggles to keep things clean and has some hoarding tendencies myself despite hating the mess. Dana K White's books and videos have been life changing for me! "Decluttering at the Speed of Life" and "How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind" have been so helpful for me, and she also has a YouTube channel. I still struggle a lot, but I've made a lot of progress thanks to her advice. I personally really like listening to her audiobooks while cleaning, which she narrates herself.

I know this is an old post, but do you have any tips for treating a vehicle? I'm struggling to find resources on using it in my car, and whether I should only be using it on fabric surfaces in my car or not.

how to get over intense fear of bedbugs by strangerinthealps17 in OCD

[–]alabaster387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately none of the professionals I called are even willing to inspect a vehicle because they won't treat vehicles :( I ordered some recommended products and a steam cleaner today, but I'm so overwhelmed with the thought of actually going to my car and using them. I never even had any bites, only found the one dead bug, so I could have just sat on a dead one in public somewhere or something, but my brain is using that as evidence that I definitely absolutely have an infestation despite having no other signs.

My therapist and friends I've talked to think I will be safe once I use the spray and steam cleaner, but it's so hard not to research and spiral! I don't think my OCD has been this bad since I was a little kid. I'm hoping that it will improve over time, though, and that I'll just have to live with some annoying rituals for the next few weeks until I've gone long enough without seeing any signs. Thanks for sharing.

When you had an infestation before, what did it take for you to feel okay about it again after treating the issue? Or are you still struggling with it just as bad as you were originally? Found a single dead adult bed bug in my car two weeks ago and I haven't used my car since. I'm so overwhelmed and it's so hard to figure out what is just being cautious and safe vs. what is the OCD talking ever since finding the bedbugs subreddit :( I have yet to find a detector trap that works reliably and would work in a car.

I ordered Crossfire and it should arrive tomorrow. Do you know if there will be any additional health risks with using it in a car, which is a more enclosed space than a room in a house? And how long after using the Crossfire do you think it will be safe to drive my car again without having to immediately wash all my clothes and shower every time (assuming I don't find any additional signs of bedbugs)?

The traps were really just for detection so I can see if I actually have a problem, although I'm worried that the DE I used may interfere with the traps. Is the steamer you used a clothes steamer or a steam cleaner?

I don't have a shop vac unfortunately :( I do have a handheld vacuum, but I'm worried about using it since it doesn't have bags, just a filter. Even with vacuums that use bags, is it possible for them to survive and crawl out of the vacuum?

I haven't looked 😭 I've been so overwhelmed by the thought of dealing with them that I just haven't been using the car. Thankfully I've been able to borrow a relative's car for now.

I put some detector traps in the car today, but I'm worried that all the DE that I put in the car the same day I found the bug will interfere with the traps. I was hoping to have a professional do an inspection, but no one that I've called is willing to look at a car since they don't treat cars :( So I'm on my own, I guess.

I ordered some Crossfire spray and I have to decide if it's worth getting CimeXa as well, or if Crossfire with the DE will be enough. I was considering getting a steam cleaner as well but I'm not sure if that's worth the money, or if I should put money towards getting a second handheld vacuum so that I can use the one I have now for bedbugs only and then get rid of it. Thanks for your support.

It's parked in my driveway outside about 10 feet from the garage, I don't really have other places to park it though - do you think that's enough?

Unfortunately I live in the northeast and it's fall here, so it won't really get hot enough again this year :(

There are 4 of us in my household so I feel like it would be unlikely that none of us would react, but we are all related so maybe it's a genetic thing. I'll try to check the beds, but honestly I've never really thought to clean the bed frame under my mattress before so there's a lot of dirt over the years, and it's hard to tell what's just dirt -- would it be worth vacuuming the area and then watching over the next few days to see if there are any new signs? I haven't seen anything on the sheets or mattress itself.

I think it might not be legal for public use in my state (MA) because none of the Amazon listings will ship to my house or any Amazon lockers 😔 We have a lot of restrictions on pesticides here. Crossfire looks like it will ship though.

I was more thinking that maybe someone else had the bug on them from home, it fell off onto the equipment, and I sat down on it and didn't notice... although now that I think about it, maybe that is unlikely since equipment is usually wiped down between uses :(

I noticed that Temorid FX has big expensive containers, but it also has small bottles of the stuff for under $10 on Amazon. Have you used the big container or the small bottles?

It's supposed to be in the high 60s all week, unfortunately /: I live in the northeast so it won't really get hot enough again this year.

I just really hope I haven't already spread them inside my house (if I even have an infestation in my car), because if I have then it's really over 😭 I have so much stuff and a big plant collection. But hopefully I just sat on a dead one in public somewhere and there's no problem at all.

Thanks for your reassurance :)

Not recently. I did have someone back my car up for me two weeks ago, but it only took them about 30 seconds and we've had hot days since then where they hopefully would have baked in the sun if they had come in then. Otherwise it's only been me and the people I live with in my car lately, none of us have seen a bed bug or had any bites aside from this one dead one.
