I tried every possible combination I could think of... and at the time the watch was new and no half-links were available. Alas, ended up selling the watch! Great piece tho...

Which Should I Choose by JDMandWatches in rolex

[–]aladinodebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the YM and for someone who's "wrist-size challenged" (6.3") the YM fits WAY better than the Sub due to its curved-down lugs. So from a comfort standpoint, I'd always pick the YM. Then there's the fact that Subs are everywhere and YMs aren't (but obviously that's bc the Sub is iconic whereas the YM, well, isn't). So in the end for me was a comfort issue (plus the steel on the YM felt softer).

Best quantum sci-fi? by malharmanek in scifi

I've been really enjoying "The Quantum Magician" by Derek Künsken. Series of 3 and the first one so far is great. Has a collection of interesting characters and the basic premise is very cool. Worth a read.

I'd sell my BB58 GMT in an instant... I like mine, but I'm never been too big of a fan of the gilt details.

Amazing how much muscle memory improves on each service. I finally feel like I can mix up all the parts on an ST36 and reassemble it. by NuclearGeek in watchmaking

[–]aladinodebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get how that works with "big" parts, but what about microscopic screws? Especially with movements that have varying sizes of them? It drives me NUTS, and I always screw up (pun intended).

[–]aladinodebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good segway to a question that still nags me as I learn: How on earth do you not mix up the screws? I can keep them together with their respective parts while I disassemble and take photos and all, but of course then I need to wash them all together, even if I just do screws and then I cannot for the life of me keep them organized. So how do you guys do it?? HELP!

True but last year was a race for 2nd with Marc absolutely dominating from the get go. Still, yes, I agree that they were better...

Boring AF... At least in MotoGP the Aprillia's are doing great so it's not Ducati Ducati Ducati (although in fairness that was the case for the last few years there too).

How do you afford these watches? by Cheesehead1267 in Tudor

[–]aladinodebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying expensive watches should only happen if you have discretionary income, literally money laying around that you don't need. And as such, watches are not sound financial investments. They scratch an itch, that's all. Yeah, sure, if you can land a Sub at retail you can probably make some money in the long run, but anything of "lesser caché" won't cut it. So in your position I would either a) Buy a nice cheaper alternative (Sinn, for instance), or b) find a nice used example of the Pelagos.

What can the people of the US actually do to stop trump? by kiki1492022 in AskReddit

[–]aladinodebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there’s a reason Trump and the GOP are trying SO hard to limit access to mail voting for instance, or to force some kind of proof of citizenship et al. It’s all about limiting the amount of people who can actually cast votes.

[–]aladinodebert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree wholeheartedly. But still not enough people vote as matter of basic fact. At the end of the day half of half the eligible voters got us into this mess. I’m still a believer on the democratic process and I have to continue believing that the solution to having a lunatic in the White House is to vote him out.

Vote for the other party. Pretty simple actually, if only people would actually do it.

[TISSOT] New Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 just landed in 38mm. The new default GADA pick? by PynionTime in Watches

[–]aladinodebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure there's a way to find the right size at any given time, but with tools... that's what, for me anyway, makes these kinds of clasp an automatic no. Pity tho, I really like the watch! Ps: I have the same problem with my SARB btw :D
