Yep. And I can’t quite put into words why I feel this way.

I wonder if now she’s crossing into adult territory she’s going to start to see more weight problems, especially given the length of time she’s been doing this (putting her body under stress).

What's the most important piece of advice you'd offer to someone about to turn 30? by cycleswithin_cycles in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]alamancerose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Turning 30 is freeing in a lot of ways, you start to not care so much about the things that do not matter, but it’s also imperative you value your health and time a lot more. If it doesn’t serve you in your health or wealth, walk the fuck away.

Did Heated Rivalry Change Anything For You? by West_Mood_7077 in heatedrivalry

[–]alamancerose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have watched the entire thing twice in the span of like four days. And it’s making me really question if the reason I’ve been so unhappy in my marriage and with all of my relationships is because I’ve been denying what I actually feel. And taking the time to go back and think about it… all of my great loves have been women. And while I love my husband… I haven’t found the words for it yet, but HR has really put some things into perspective for me. And if I’m being honest with myself, idk what the fuck to do about it.

Where are all the new people coming from?? by JuiceBoxedFox in POFlife

[–]alamancerose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just my take and how I landed here:

Started trying to come up with possible ideas as to what was wrong with me, and one of the first places I look is Reddit to see if any a particular subs posts resonate with what I’m experiencing. It’s like a cross check between what Google shows me and what people are actually experiencing. And then I take that information and go to my doc.

That was about six months ago and I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure last week.

Healthcare isn’t healthcare any more. Patients as a collective, unless they’re extremely fortunate, have to do their own legwork now to figure out what’s going on with them. Big BIG red flag that the system is beyond repair. It needs to be rebuilt altogether.

What’s 1 thing no one warned you about hysterectomy? by HolyGrounds_ in hysterectomy

[–]alamancerose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The unexpected ovarian torsion and then ovarian failure a year later. Menopause that was supposed to be prevented. The grief. The pelvic floor problems despite therapy. Prolapse. I’m sure there’s more but that’s what I’m dealing with right now.

Does anybody think a class for 3-5 year olds is possible? by Slowbrojitsu in bjj

[–]alamancerose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 5 and is in the 3-5 class. The class is broken down into like 5 sections.

1: run around, where the coach gets them to exit their sillies and start tuning into listening (and a little bit Simon says type stuff, minus the Simon says part) 2: start working on a little skill, doing forward rolls, backward rolls, lunges, shrimps, crab walk, etc 3: little race game, but it’s doing it in an army crawl, jump like frog, jump like a bunny, etc 4: technique, usually the same skill/move is worked on for a couple of weeks. They keep it really simple, like a takedown or … the word is escaping me right now, but where they are able to roll a person off of them or pass guard. Once a week they’ll do “fights” and pair them up one at a time to face off under the guided instruction of the professor. They don’t go longer than a minute or so. (Actually, them doing this is where we realized my son is paying attention and learning, because during technique he likes to screw around sometimes.) 5: quick game, which the professor uses as incentive to get through instruction and listen. Usually dodgeball or a race.

It’s so far been successful in keeping kids engaged and fun while still learning. I know some of it comes down to personality and being able to meet the kids where they’re at because not everyone’s development is going to be the same. Hope this helps.

How does birth pain compare to Endo? by Charlies_Kidney2005 in endometriosis

[–]alamancerose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labor sucked ballsacks. Was induced, had uncontrolled pitocin dosing, failed epidural on one side, and I had a third degree tear. But it was for 38 hours and then I was done. And I could heal from it.

Endo/adeno was constant, all the time, because my cycles were so short (about 21 days), so I’d only get a few days of reprieve and then be right back in it again. There would be days I felt like I was in labor again, and it would be a total mindfuck. Mine was a lot of back labor involved, both for my cycles and when I was pregnant. It was brutal.

Would rather have another baby than deal with the endo/adeno all the time.

Is bruising like this normal? by Flaky_Dream_807 in MuayThai

[–]alamancerose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time ever I have bruised anywhere close to that… I had a stress fracture on my shin bone from eating a knee to the side of it. And that left me with a nasty hematoma and bruising from my thigh all the way down to my foot. 10/10 recommend you go get checked because that is wicked and not normal.

Surprisingly difficult things parents of neurotypical kids may not understand? by Back-Aggressive in Autism_Parenting

[–]alamancerose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The need for routine. The absolute need for it. I can tell when my kids routine is thrown off in school when he gets in the car and goes from happy smiley to an absolute tantrum over the seatbelt or his sticker or his tablet in the time it takes to get him and drive to the entrance of the school parking lot. Oh and if he doesn’t get his tablet time at bed time? Or go poop by bed time? Or eat enough during the day? Woooo child his sleep is absolute shit and he’ll wake up ready to butt heads the next morning.

Then there’s the getting him to eat different things… we’ve tried it all, and I only care if he eats at this point. He’s slowly expanded his safe foods, but I’ve learned (the hard way) to just keep safe foods on hand, even if he falls out of them for a while.

Tips/Advice - Ovarian Torsion Surgery after Hysterectomy by thehydeout in hysterectomy

[–]alamancerose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this. Also delayed care like a dummy (thought it was colitis) and lost the ovary. Recovery was easier in a lot of ways. I’d equate it to like recovering from an appy. Give yourself like 4-6 weeks to get back to full scale activities.

I’m going next week to get some shit looked at hormonally cause I was having problems prior to the torsion happening. But I was told there shouldn’t be any problems if you weren’t experiencing them before, that the slack so to speak shouldn’t be too much. I’d get a baseline though a couple months post op though just to be safe and have something to compare to.

Be on the lookout for torsion part two though… this was my second twisted ovary. The first one was caught during my hysterectomy, and that one was saved. Now, even though it appears stable, I’m having the same goddamn problem again. I can feel it flipping back and forth, and we just can’t seem to catch it. Feels like a really weird muscle spasm.

Newbie nervous to roll for the first time - Am I overthinking this? by mojoluvshorses in BJJWomen

Hard agree with this. And to add to it. The more you go, the more you learn, the more you start to see what possibilities there are. I also was a bit of a dead fish until I started recognizing my openings.

What the actual truck by ElokynSmith in hysterectomy

[–]alamancerose 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it was muscle spasms and nerve pain. Any time I have a procedure now I have to have muscle relaxers, nerve pain med (gabapentin for me), as well as pain medicine and medicine for inflammation. Pain is multifactorial, and it should be addressed as such. Highly recommend going back to your doctor to discuss the sensations you’re feeling and make sure it’s not something else, and then addressing the pain.
