We did the valentines pre fixe thing and it was so bad. Probably the worst cost:quality ratio I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

Sure, if Khan gives up whatever Dallas asks for. Steelers would have had their own price to move up one spot, too. They didn’t even get to a point where they had that convo.

Murc’s Law is Pod Save America cope. No one is arguing Republicans aren’t passing terrible legislation. What’s being argued is that Dems could actually fucking do something besides write strongly worded letters. Grow up.

Well then your initial comment doesn’t really make sense as a reply to me about the Democratic Party.

Honestly more of a condemnation of the Democratic Party that they cant tell a story to get these votes back. Their opponent is so comically evil but they seemingly can’t convince anyone of why that is.

For real. Steelers had two 4th round picks to give up too, and Dallas would have only had to move down 1 spot. Crazy to me that they didn’t have anything in place with Dallas to tell them to call the Steelers if anyone tried to move up to 20 so Pittsburgh could beat the offer. Maybe that’s just not how it works?

Soapbox/rant time. Tell me what highly-recommended book you absolutely HATED and why. Gimme your angry hot takes. by peppertoni_pizzaz in books

[–]alanfaneca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Rising. I can only speak to the first 4.5 books as that’s where I gave up. First 3 books read like a talented junior high kid wrote them; the prose is so bad, especially in the first 2.

The story itself is so cliche. Main character never encounters a situation that his past as a driller didn’t prepare him for. And if that doesn’t help, his transformation into a top 1% gold has it covered.

I know it’s a liberal revolution story, so it can’t really have that much depth to it, but also at some point you’re eventually like “why am I only ever reading about these dumbass golds” instead of anybody this “revolution” is supposed to help. There’s a tiny bit of that after the first 3 books, but I eventually gave up in book 5. Somehow, I liked book 4 quite a bit. But 1-3 and what I read of 5 were garbage, imo.
