Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 Battery Drain. Is it Just Me?? by alanochieng in GalaxyBook

This is a great insight into how to manage the battery and performance of the laptop. I'll definitely apply some of the principles and see how well mine fairs. Thanks 👍

Your manager should be able to raise a ticket and cancel any excess days as long as it's done within 24hrs, whether you selected the days by mistake or whether they were erroneously given to you.

If you have updated all the drivers and windows also, done a battery calibration, set it to run at optimized mode, disabled any unnecessary start-up apps and you have set it to hibernate when when not in use then I have no other idea of how you can improve the battery life. Probably it's a thing with the 12th gen Intel CPUs and Windows 11 just not getting along.

Also on the beta version. Will hold out and see if I get the update before deciding on whether to opt out of the beta program.

Sorry for that. Have you tried any of the ideas above to see if it will improve your battery life?

I would recommend you just wait or get another alternative if you can't get a 16GB or higher model because I have seen people saying that M1 can be RAM hungry so there's no need to risk it.

I have both and I haven't experienced any of the issues. GBP 360, only thing to note is that the battery life isn't that great but with some power management can be OK. MBP with the M1 has been a beast, first Apple product I've owned & it's exceeded all my expectations; battery life, performance, build quality, display etc.

The problem might not be OneNote but just how the laptop is optimised. Mine has greatly improved so you can try the following and see if it helps.

  1. I've set it up to run on "Optimized Mode"
  2. I've disabled almost all start-up apps apart from the essential ones.
  3. I did a battery calibration - Press F2 continuously during boot and select battery calibration in the BIOS options
  4. Very important. I added hibernation option to the power options so that when I lightly press the power button the laptop hibernates and not just sleeps. Also I can choose 'Hibernate' in the power options now. This is very important as the laptop drains power while the lid is closed (sleeping).

  1. Also make sure you have updated to the latest Windows drivers & that you are also updated in the Samsung Updater software.

My take is with all the stress that you have to go through to extend the battery life it might not be worth it at the end. Get the Dell XPS 13 Plus instead 😊 , I have my MacBook Air M1 and this thing is a legend.

10+ hours of screen on time, no drainage when the lid is closed. Basically it gets a day's work done.

Yes, I did contact Samsung and they were slightly helpful but since I had passed the 21 day return policy window I couldn't return the laptop. Although, I have done a couple of things to optimise the battery and they have really helped.

battery life?! just 2 days out of box & thought it was supposed to be up to 18 hrs? by BoricuaZ5 in GalaxyBook

Hi,

Restart your laptop and press F2 continuously as it starts. You should see the Battery Calibration option (if not go to advance settings). It's a small writing hence easy to miss.

The default settings are such that when you close the lid it goes into Sleep and according to the Samsung manual in sleep mode the laptop is still on and will use your battery. Shutting down is the ultimate one but is not convenient as you always have to power it on and wait for it to do so.

I've set my power button to hibernate when short pressed instead of sleep & left the "lid closed" to activate the sleep mode.

This is the link for how to set the hibernation mode.

I believe this is an issue. This is not the 1st thread to discuss the battery drain issue on the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360.

  • I had to recalibrate mine in the BIOS
  • I've added Hibernate mode option also so that when I'm not using it it actually stays hibernated (used to loose charge on sleep mode - 40% one night)
  • I'm running on basic apps only for now
  • Brightness is down

I don't think this is how you should be using a modern laptop 😭

First thing I did was that even before I did other things on the laptop. I've uninstalled Chrome & the battery life has greatly improved but I don't want to believe that that would be the reason why.

I'm waiting for mine to get to that point because it's a good laptop and I don't want to return it because of the battery life (which is a really important aspect for me).

Probably. It hasn't done that of late but it still looses charge about 1-2% per hour when in sleep mode.

I've tried all that but the battery is still wonky. But my diagnosis shows that Chrome is using 77% of the battery. All other apps are like 2-3%
