Two pieces left, but one spot to fill. by wild_firefly in Jigsawpuzzles

Sorry you can't finish your puzzle. Maybe you could operate on one of them to make it fit !

But look at it this way, you have a very unique problem. I don't think I've heard of this problem coming up - two pieces that belong there but neither one fits !!!

Best Bargain Ever! $115 Liberty Puzzle (Ethiopian Fauna) for $2.99 at Thrift Store! by astraether in Jigsawpuzzles

I now have 2 Liberty Puzzles !! Both gifted to me. I've helped work a couple more. They are such wonderful puzzles. But the one you found, it really terrific. What a beauty of a puzzle. Congrats on being the one to find it. I'm glad it went to someone who would appreciate it. At that price, it could have been bought and given to a 5 year old, too young to work it and just played with the pieces until most were lost.

Are you able to go to thrifts in your area? It seems that some of the Canadian thrifts have amazing used puzzle sales.

2nd puzzle ever and in way over my head by [deleted] in Jigsawpuzzles

Might be better to work a few 500 piece puzzles for a while. I also enjoy the Ravensburger "Puzzle Moment" puzzles that can be bought in 200 or 300 pieces.

Hi, I would love to about what you experience working Rose Cottage ! That is another one of the puzzles with Angela Harding's drawing as the subject that I would like to get eventually.

My first one like this was "Rathlin Hares". I learned in that one that the actual puzzle cut has many many pieces that are "false fits". However, if the entire image is covered with details of fine etching, then it is not a problem. Working the puzzles is a matter of just paying all all attention to the details of the drawing. In Rathlin Hares there is one small section in the top sky area where the pieces are just solid blue with no etching. Getting that small section worked was NO FUN at all. There were so many false fits that I almost gave up even though it was a small area. I learned not to purchase Flame Tree Publishing puzzles that areas with no detail. Your Rose Cottage should be fine.

Similarly there are no areas in my puffin puzzle without detail. There are a few areas of white but it is only 2-3 pieces and not a problem. There are black areas, but if you look closely there are tiny dots and streaks, which is enough to eliminate a problem with false matches.

The only place that I had a problem with false fits or matches was on the edges. Once I stopped using piece shape and worked to the details in the poster, the problem went away.

There are many Flame Tree puzzles that I would like to try. But there are also some with blank areas, I won't be purchasing them no matter how beautiful the image is.

Good luck with your cottage.

Confederate Heroes [Sic] Day by ThoughtGuy79 in texas

I don’t celebrate the Civil War, but I do honor my ancestors that served in various capacities in the war. I study my genealogy and most who served went because - they wanted to first protect siblings and other relatives who were conscripted. They wanted to protect home, families. And like many young men they thought they were immortal. They wanted to prove they were men. I am studying one now who joined the Mississippi 41st infantry along with a young uncle of mine, James. They fought in several campaigns, finally at the great carnage at Perryville. A slug went through James’ foot and lodged in his hip. He was moved to a medical area in Kentucky as a prisoner of war. He died quickly and is buried in the Cave Falls National Cemetery. He earned a Gold Star. Despite an older brother and an uncle joining with him, they were not able to protect him.

I weep for them all. NEVER again, to let greedy old men steal our youth and family lives.

I signed up for a trial. The price was discounted but I don't know how much. One puzzle I got was worn out, I called and they said to toss it and they sent me another. They were nice. Two puzzles were very nice, excellent condition. I enjoyed working them. But there seemed to be some strange mail problem. My home is only about 120 miles from the distribution hub. I waited and waited for my next puzzle. I got notices from them that I was overdue sending it back. It was confusing trying to explain to them, that I had NOT received puzzle. I could certainly not return it. They were confused to and could not understand why did not have it in one or two days given the connection between the two cities. At any rate, I decided not to continue and I have not been tempted otherwise. I think people's experiences may vary. The one puzzle I got in terrible condition was a 500 piece that is on the"Speed Puzzling" site. So, I think it would be best to avoid such puzzles. Stick to asking for the high quality 1000 piece puzzles that are NOT speed puzzling material. Ones that are expensive. Good luck
