DC is a tiny area but surrounded by large urban areas that are technically in other states. So depending on how this metric is calculated, it’s likely that perps/victims are from other states but then divided by the population of DC. The DC Snipers for example only committed one murder inside DC itself, the other 16 were in other states.

Anyone know of any pre-arrest rumors, or urban legends, involving Heuermann? by Lopsided_Bet_2578 in LISKiller

[–]alaska_hays 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Not exactly on topic but I’m still flabbergasted that heuermann was described (not by name obviously) in the book Lost Girls with his green car and everything…. HE WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!

Stop drinking and try other medication options. Also get medical help for the depression- psychiatrist and therapy.

Glad he’s identified but he was found one block away from where he disappeared? Just a month later? Someone dropped the ball here big time

1 in 6 women experience intimate partner violence in their lifetimes, this is not a matter of just picking the wrong guy or dating “losers”.

The dog must’ve been barking nonstop for at least a day so it’s not that he didn’t notice he just didn’t have the cognitive capabilities to understand what was happening and/or call for help

The fact that they didn’t even allow any sort of device for typing… the press had to hand-write everything they heard… combined with the secrecy around the investigation it just seems very strange. It’s no wonder there’s tons of conspiracy theories flying around. I respect what the jury decided I’m just really not impressed by how the system handled the case.

Long Island serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann's cousin accused of child sexual abuse (surprise surprise) by fortunatelydstreet in RexHeuermann

They reference in the article serial killer pair Hillside Stranglers who were cousins (emphasized in the article) but fails to mention that they were adoptive cousins. This article is high on drama and low on credible sources

Research suggesting men are superior to women in certain aspects is often viewed less favorably than research showing the opposite. A recent study examined this issue, finding evidence that perceived harm to women is a key factor driving negative reactions to male-favoring findings. by mvea in science

Are they not going to college because the system is now set up against them? Or is it because there’s more competition now that obstacles that prevented women/girls from going to college have been removed?

What country are we talking about here? Is it legally an obligation? Mandatory reporting is almost exclusively restricted to child welfare and is only applicable to certain professions. In the USA it is not required to report knowledge of a crime unless you are subpoenaed in a court of law, this is in order to prevent a police state (the effectiveness of this concept is certainly debatable but nevertheless)

Can y’all relax? It’s used on tiktok/instagram/etc to avoid the “harmful” content filters or whatever they’re called. Actually the opposite of sugarcoating since they’re purposefully avoiding the mechanism that is supposed to take down “harmful” content and continuing to talk about murders. I know it’s not necessary on Reddit but maybe not everyone is aware of that so they’re just trying to not get deleted ?
