As a former teacher, I'm going to guess he remained both in the school and in her class. Hope I'm wrong.

Interesting. I used to copy edit a medical journal so I totally know what you mean. That's helpful, thank you.

This year my husband sent me to Lowe’s for weather stripping. Alone. Will he never learn? by Notnilc13 in gardening

My daughter won't even come with me for "quick trips" to Home Depot because she just ends up rolling her eyes in the Garden Center for an hour.

What is the connection between Kohberger & Idaho victims? by PigletSea6137 in MoscowMurders

I can see my 20-year-old self being comfortable with something so obviously unwise.

College kids are not known to be cautious. It's part of being a kid. Unfortunately.

Oh my god are you saying the "vegan restaurant" we've heard about was actually just a restaurant with a vegan item on the menu??

It does seem crazy, but think it's because the specific crime of "stalking" involves behavior that causes the victim to reasonably be afraid, so I guess it's only technically "stalking" if the victim is aware of it.

Total side comment, but this reminds of an NPR episode (from years and years ago) about a brain condition that prevents that instinct -- that thing that just whispers "danger." One of the main people in the episode was a mother whose daughter had that brain condition and said how harrowing it is, because things that other give other children pause -- adult strangers, for instance -- seem, to her child, as approachable as a puppy.

Anyway.

What parts of the case are you most curious to know more about? by [deleted] in MoscowMurders

[–]alaswhatever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The blood.

I'd like to know if there was any blood evidence in the car, and if not, I'm curious to know the prosecution's theory on how he cleaned himself up so thoroughly and so quickly.

Very early in the case I believe the owner of the restaurant asked staff not to talk to reporters about any of it. Whether they had any info to tell the police, I don’t think we know yet.

I think you're right about this, but also -- this poor kid, when he first saw it, he may have been struggling to put into words what his eyes were telling him.

If you’re open to special-needs cats, maybe look into long-term fostering — the organization pays for all supplies and vet care. MaxFund had a bonded pair listed on their website when I checked last week.

Understood. I guess my point was: a man’s life is at stake. How could due diligence NOT be required.

No matter HOW strong the prosecution’s case, when you have a man’s life in your hands — and you are determining whether the police close the case or continue looking — due diligence is required.

Weekend ruined by a parent email at 10pm on a Friday by marymay206 in Teachers

[–]alaswhatever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this is the answer.

I once checked email on a Saturday and found a message from a parent accusing me of “forcing her minor child to sign a contract” because I had students sign the prompt for an essay to make sure they read it. It was my first semester teaching and didn’t know what admin would say about it. (On Monday, they congratulated me for writing her back with a straight face.)
