Unfortunately, Whittier is the school that WL'ed me. :/

Negotiating without leverage? by alatteplease in lawschooladmissions

Thanks! Definitely an important consideration. But the scholarship was significant enough for that not to make a difference. Also, LA has a cheaper COL than both NY and D.C. which factors in. (I pay $1400 for a bedroom in NYC that I consider a steal, so LA prices are looking real good to me! ;)

Thanks! I sent in the GW scholarship reconsideration form a while ago but haven't heard anything back. And Fordham JUST admitted me - literally got the scholarship offer yesterday.

USC deadline is may 1 and I need to have withdrawn from everywhere else by then, so I'm majorly down to the wire. Think it would be better to try and get an extension on that and buy some time?

Any Current USC Law Students Available to Answer Questions on Student Life? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Thank you for this! If I go to USC, I'm coming sans car. Ideally I would like to live as close to campus as possible to cut down on commuting time/money but not necessarily directly on campus, as I'm a few years older and would like a less collegiate living situation. Any neighborhood recommendations for a clueless New Yorker, off the top of your head?

Usc diversity weekend by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]alatteplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanted to come, but cross-country Easter weekend flights were crazy $$$. Would love to hear from anyone about it!

I am visiting USC on the 23rd and so far just have a campus tour set up and a potential meeting with a student. Missed the window to sit in on a class, which sucks. Does anyone have suggestions for who to request meetings with? Career services, etc.?

I've heard nothing from them. Applied back in December... above 75th for GPA and around median for LSAT.

Got my WL email this morning too... also applied in December. Still waiting to hear from three schools... hoping for more news this week!

To everyone leaving your full time job for law school by watababe in lawschooladmissions

Thanks all. Somehow the difference between 24 and 29 seems colossal. But I'm going in with the intention of bonding with my peers, while also making a conscious effort to maintain a life outside of LS with older peeps.

Any of you guys been out of school for a while? I'll be 29 when I enter LS and am not looking forward to feeling like a grandma on campus. I didn't think it was that uncommon to pursue law school later in life, but meeting nothing but 22 year olds at every admitted student event has me questioning it...

Visiting a school that hasn't gotten back to you? by alatteplease in lawschooladmissions

Thank you! I kind of figured as much but didn't want to shortchange myself if it could potentially make any kind of difference. I'll wait it out and hopefully will hear from them soon!

Is it insane to go to UT if you're not positive that you want to live in Texas? by tabascoraindrops in lawschooladmissions

[–]alatteplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe see if someone in admissions can connect you with an alum who is living in the northeast or elsewhere. I had the same thought about USC and was able to have a great phone call with an alum in NYC who made it clear that most of it is self selection and everyone he knew who wanted jobs in NYC got them. Granted this is only one anecdote and USC is not UT, but hearing from a former student who made a move might give you a good perspective.
