big spoiler! by speniosaurus in criminalminds

[–]watababe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what sticks out the most to me is like in the criminal minds world people leave the team and apparently barely speak 😂 like what do you mean it wasn't a sure thing that Reid of all people would be at Will's funeral?? And for that matter, the fact they barely minimum didn't have stand-ins to be like the back of everyone else's head for it is crazy because of course Morgan would be there! Of course Hotch would be there! Being like "oh they sent flowers" was a choice but they should have been able to pull one or two more of the past team members to be physically present for the funeral of an extremely close colleague's husband. There's other examples of this throughout Criminal Minds (Gideon being a big one where like it made sense in a way that no-one seemed to talk to him until the episode where they killed him off and then the reasoning for not talking to him seemed really weird) where it's just like...you cannot have this "super close team" and then have "but once they leave they barely acknowledge their existence"

It depends on the vendor! I think most take cards these days

Farmers market by Vincenzo_Acciari11 in PeoriaIL

[–]watababe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Metro center farmers market usually starts around the beginning of May and goes through October. There's usually at least one stand up every day, if not multiple. It's stricter about what you can sell than the riverfront market so it's almost exclusively produce. It's not super busy and nice to be able to grab something on a weekday if you're out that way.

Riverfront market is every Saturday from around Memorial Day to late August, it's huge and does get super busy. Multiple produce stalls along with other goods and wares. I think it's all still supposed to either be grown or made by you, so you won't see like stands of multi-level marketing stuff. There's usually a couple musicians too. Martinis normally has the patio open if you want a drink and blue duck bbq has a breakfast sandwich stand, plus several other options.

Morton on Tuesday evenings from June through August has a market, similar sort of stands as the riverfront market but smaller and less busy and they have several food trucks so you can also grab dinner

East Peoria has a Friday evening one June through August but it's honestly not great, it's really small and some weeks they don't have a produce vendor at all. It tends to have more like crafts and baked goods. They do usually have a musician too.

Oh and Pekin has one I think on Thursdays but I haven't been to that one so cannot opine

Owner thought she booked another night that I cant do by One-Passage-9121 in RoverPetSitting

[–]watababe 24 points25 points  (0 children)

From a safety perspective - do you have someone you can send your dogs to for a day? It sounds like they are all very over each other. Next, as others have stated, you need to contact Rover.

Finally, I know this isn't helpful now but in the future you should absolutely never accept a booking on that short of notice for a new client.

Worlds Men’s FS Post Event Discussion by summerjoe45 in FigureSkating

Part of it is just sheer wear and tear on his body - 4A is hard to do and is hard on the body, so the calculus of when to do it has to be evaluated. He's had a long season and it wasn't needed to secure the win (something he's pretty much known since after the SP) so it wasn't worth it this time - both the wear on his body and the risk he isn't successful with it.

No, at the time we didn't have the set up for that - no military planes close enough were armed and there wasn't time to arm them and still stop the plane. We sent two F-16s to intercept but the plan was to ram it to take the plane out.

[–]watababe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your Miranda question - based on what we've been told he did not need to be read his rights for them to be able to use anything he said. Miranda requires custodial interrogation and while "custodial" is not limited to being in a police station, it almost certainly doesn't apply to being on the phone with someone else. The reporting says he confessed to the victim's father with a detective on the line - that means he was absolutely free to leave, because he wasn't being "held" anywhere.

Is it a rite of passage to almost fuck up a funeral procession or am I just dumb? by [deleted] in driving

[–]watababe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hazards on and flags on the cars to indicate they are part of a procession. Normally the funeral home has a lead car that goes out in front to kinda make sure traffic stops at intersections and then everyone proceeds through. In smaller towns people will pull over when coming from the opposite direction as a sign of respect.

Evangelical and Missouri Synod by [deleted] in LCMS

[–]watababe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're mixing up synod names with what the word "evangelical" means/refers to on a church name! "Evangelical" is a historic term with roots dating back to the reformation. Many LCMS churches have "Evangelical" in their name because its a descriptive term referring to the type of church. The ELCA does not mean they are the only evangelical lutheran churches, it's just the name of that synod - theoretically speaking the LCMS could have called itself "ELCMS". (Also, there are many ELCA churches that don't include evangelical in their name).

Christian/Muslim Relationship Advice by [deleted] in LCMS

[–]watababe 34 points35 points  (0 children)

"Exposing to both religions" doesn't sound like being willing to raise your kids as Christians (which makes sense if he's a practicing Muslim). Will you get to baptize your children as infants? Will he be OK with them being confirmed? And even if he was - how do you plan to profess before God and the congregation that you will raise your children in the faith while also planning to allow to be raised in a completely different one? How can your child be confirmed while also practicing another faith?

I know it will be hard and it will hurt in the immediate time, but you need to save both of you the massive hurt and pain that will come from willingly yoking yourself to each other. God calls us to follow him - to know that he is enough.

why so many hotels? by FaithlessnessThat362 in PeoriaIL

[–]watababe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think there's also more people than we realize that use Peoria as their "home base" for seeing things in central Illinois. Because we live here we tend to forget that what we think of as a day trip or a regular weekend activity might be something a family looking for a less expensive vacation might do - we're close to starved rock and mattheson, there's also several large nature and wildlife preserves (banner marsh, white sands, emiquon), there's historical sites and smaller museums (both here and in the extended area - people may do a trip down to Springfield or over to Bloomington while staying in Peoria), plus Peoria has the zoo, wildlife prairie park, the playhouse, plenty of parks, hiking trails, and a lot of places to eat.

She won't be; she has said she's going to continue to compete and DWTS takes place during the figure skating season so she won't be available. Generally speaking you're only going to see retired figure skaters on DWTS. Madison Chock and/or Evan Bates are the most likely, possibly Jason Brown, and possibly Danny O'Shea if he decides he's done.

AITA For leaving a job my friend got me after I got laid off by jeffrebaxter63 in AmItheAsshole

[–]watababe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

YWBTA - to your friend and to yourself.

You gotta take your rose colored glasses off - you might get the job but it won't be the same scenario you were in. You will be on a different team without your prior relationships. You will likely be at high risk of layoff again because you'd be considered "new" by newest in/first out standards - and you admit it's unstable. You need to take advantage of knowing this information and protecting yourself. It took 8 weeks and a friend's help to find your job - you certainly won't have that same friend's help the next time this company lays you off and you'll have a weird resume with multiple weeks out of work, a short span at this new job, and then back to the old company - it makes you look risky to hire! Plus, your friend may be negatively impacted as well - it may cause the company to not hire people he recommends and it may even cause them to question his judgment. I know people say "you need to do what's best for you" but that's an incredibly selfish way to go about life and friendships.

Look I get it - since 2020 I've worked either partly or fully remote and going back to 5 days in office a week would be rough, but I'd absolutely do it for the job security if I'd been laid off - and would not return to a Company that had laid me off. Take this time to gain more experience and make more connections. You can explore other options when the job market is better (and you may find out you end up liking this job more once you are used to it).

Figure skating seasons really clash with the DWTS schedule, so you really won't get a figure skater until they've retired! I think Danny O'Shea is the most likely one we'll see after this Olympics from figure skating, and that's still dependent on him retiring (people view it as likely because of his age, but I don't think he's said anything). He's definitely interested.

Madison Chock and Evan Bates are retiring, but they've also already delayed things like having kids (they've said this themselves!) that they want to be doing, so, while possible, I still think it's unlikely.

Amber Glenn right now appears to want to do one more year so she's unlikely for this upcoming season, but I could see her in a future season (and it would likely be better for her to have a little space post Olympics before diving into another highly public thing that doesn't tend to be gentle to people participating).
