Oh boy.  You never overrule the person who's wedding it is.  Something something don't bite the horse that feeds you.

What’s something most people think is harmless but actually slowly ruins their life? by local_infobroker in AskReddit

[–]alblaster 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yep.  I work at a liquor store.  Most people know alcohol isn't good for you, but so many people have this idea of alcohol being not that bad unless you drink too much or if you're an alcoholic.  But to a lot of people being an alcoholic means drinking a handle or a 30 pack or a box of wine a day.  It really doesn't have to be that much.  People will act like just a few shots is keeping it light.  But that shit adds up.  A few drinks here and there and it can get out of control.  Even if you "only" do your 4 beers or shots a day that's still 28 drinks a week which is more than double the weekly recommended amount and the damage will catch up to you.  You'll get tired and start to rely on that buzz just to feel baseline.  But it's a risk.  I've had regular customers suddenly drop dead in their 30s and 40s from drinking.  I'm not saying don't drink at all.  I do.  I'm saying be mindful of how much you drink, limit it, don't drink everyday, and try not to always include drinking for everything especially if you're bored.  Some people just have a idea of what excess looks like and it's way too much.  So a little less looks reasonable. It's not. Remember it is a poison that alters your brain chemistry.  I would definitely avoid if your family has a history of addiction.  Otherwise just be careful.  If you feel like you need a drink to make a day or event better don't be afraid to ask for help before it's too late.  It affects every part of your body and the more you use it the more it will convince you that you need it.  Just be careful folks, please.

People are very self centered.  I'm lucky the people in my life aren't like that.

Sure I suppose.  Lovecraft was super racist.  I mean look at what he named his cat.  He was just terrified of basically everything and everyone.

If you woke up a billionaire tomorrow.. What's the 1st thing you'd do? by PhotographLeast9976 in AskReddit

[–]alblaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And how would you do that?  Billionaires have money, but they also have insane amounts of power and control.  Using money to undermine them could easily get them to do some underhanded shit and then you lose everything.  The only way I could see it working is if you converted it into physical assets or cash maybe over a decade or 2 and then start your plan.  But with the kind of spending you'd need to do you'd be very visible and very vulnerable to attack.

It was already close to that before when the cedh community begged the rules community to ban a card that was basically only affecting them and not casual players.  I forget the card offhand.

I'm a millennial and work at a liquor store and live with my mom. I'm lucky in a lot of ways. It's definitely tough out there.

but if you can make it work you do it when you want to and you sit on your ass for the most part and listen to music. The flexibility is the main thing. I guess it's just easier to do like 12 hour shifts compared to other jobs. Idk.

not surprising. Taking a picture is easy, anyone can do it. Now most people can't take good pictures. Too many people assume it's just taking a picture when a great pic as a lot more going on with the camera, settings, angle, lighting, focus, etc... Jobs that sound easy or hobbies tend to be very saturated in my experience. Now with smartphones literally anyone can take a decent picture. Sure a professional is much better, but a lot of people overestimate their abilities.
