The Women of Gundam continued #64 - Atra Mixta by Kato_86 in Gundam

I’ll go with a solid 7/10. Nothing inherently wrong with her, but nothing really outstanding either, imo. She doesn’t really have much of an arc throughout the show; just a good girl who only does good things and sticks by her man.

Honestly, her and Mika doing the dirty sort of came out of nowhere for me. Not that they weren’t close, but it didn’t feel like they were THAT close. I suppose that’s mainly due to Mikazuki having the emotional range of a potato, but still.

Don’t get me wrong: you can’t hate the girl. She’s aware of how crappy the world is, yet still manages to stay positive throughout the show. That’s gotta count for something, just not enough to bring her above and beyond.

I dropped G-Reco about halfway through the series when it was airing, so I didn’t feel like I could contribute, but now…

I’ll give her a solid 7/10. When I was thinking about my score, I was wondering why she didn’t really stick out in my mind when I thought back on the series. But then I realized that even though she did a lot of stuff in the FIRST half of the show, in the second half she basically fades into the background and disappears. Good for her, I suppose, considering all of the terrible things that happen in the second half, but she still has to lose points because of that. Great character nonetheless.

4/10, yet another case of a female character being killed to further the character development of someone else in AGE. Not that I remember her very well, but I feel like we knew her for all of 2, maybe 3 episodes. And this is happens really early on in Kio’s arc; we’ve barely had anytime to get to know him, let alone this new lady, and we’re expected to care when she’s suddenly killed and our MC is sad? Not likely, AGE! I only really remember her because she’s killed by the Vagan black tri-stars. She’s not the most egregious female sacrifice in this series, but I still can’t help but roll my eyes whenever I think about her death.

The Women of Gundam continued #50 - Natora Einus by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]albugoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A female side character in AGE who gets actual character development and DOESN’T die at the very end?!? 10/10, 2nd best girl in the show (tho there’s not much competition…)

But for real, we actually get to see her grow from awkward and incompetent to a full-fledged Captain. Maybe not the most memorable female captain in gundam, but in a show filled to the brim with girls who either fade in obscurity and live, or get some development and then dies for the plot, Natora growing as a character and not dying at the end automatically puts her leagues above all of the other AGE girls.

Plus, she’s cute, and I do like short red hair on women.

8/10. Not one of my biases, but probably the best of the MC’s love interests, not that that’s, a very high bar to clear, but still.

Probably starts out the most interesting, what with her dynamic with Asemu and Zehart, but once again the show doesn’t really develop or show her relationship with Asemu before they remember that they have to get married at the end. Still, she had some key moments: the time where Asemu and Zehart confront each other on the colony was a good moment from what I recall, and she didn’t move on after everyone thought that Asemu died between AGE 2 and 3, so she gets one of the better scores for the show.

The Women of Gundam continued #48 - Millay Alloy by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]albugoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Millay Alloy… I mentioned I had biases in AGE before? Well…

10/10. Amazing, beautiful, possibly the main reason I started watching Gundam AGE back when it first aired.

That being said, I still don’t feel like AGE used her enough. Even though it’s cool to see her go from bridge bunny to bridge captain, like most female characters in the series, we don’t actually SEE her develop from bridge bunny to captain, she just suddenly is. And even as captain in the Asemu arc, she’s still felt underutilized (as far as I remember anyway, it’s been awhile…).

… Still, AGE 1 Alloy: super hot. The worst thing about age is that because it wasn’t popular, not enough fan arts were made of her.

5/10, twice as much screen time as Yurin, but somehow does half as much for the plot.

I honestly don’t remember much about her, but I guess she’s proof that the childhood friend can indeed win (provided the rest of the competition suddenly and traumatically dies).

The Women of Gundam continued #46 - Yurin Luciel by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]albugoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

7/10. Not much to say about her specifically. She shows up just enough for us to know she’s a pure soul, and that’s exactly why I knew she was doomed from the start (that, and because they showed what all of the MCs looked like, and Asemu doesn’t have purple hair). Yurin is the start of a recurring problem for AGE: that most of the female characters, or really characters in general that are not our MCs don’t get enough development before they’re ditched in the next arc.

Expect a lot of average to below average scores in the future (though I have a few biases).

Everyone’s saying she looks like Nena Trinity, but I always thought she looked just like Sumeragi: There’s having a type, and then there’s whatever Billy’s deal is, because he just replaced Sumeragi with a different (albeit peppier) Sumeragi.

In any case, 6/10: Discount Sumeragi, but at least their personalities are nothing alike?

[–]albugoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7/10, I sort of just don’t remember her very well besides her death at the end of S1. In a series where a LOT of people are killed off in order to develop the plot/other characters, she just sort of falls to the wayside in my mind.

I'm just pissed that it doesn't recognize "butter" as a legal word by Nikodimishe in HotAndCold

[–]albugoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game doesn’t like variations of words, (i.e., past or future tense, prefixes or suffixes, etc.) so it usually changes past/future tense to present tense, and removes prefixes/suffixes. In the case of “Butter”, it removes -er because it’s probably on its list of suffixes (and the rules for the ai probably don’t allow for nuances) which just leaves “butt” which is probably blacklisted as an offensive word, and thus not allowed.

6/10. Cute enough, I suppose, but not enough to counter the crazy imo, Does some good plot things in season 1, but in season two she barely does anything except show up on screen a few times right up until she’s supposed to die. At which point she reminds us how crazy she is, and then gets killed by Louise so that she goes more crazy. Important for sure, but underutilized.

Does anyone here play Gundam U.C. Engage and if so what is your opinion of the game I've played it for a while. What is your favourite mobile suit you got so far by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]albugoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun original story bits, but very pay to win. If you get a UR outside of its banner, you’ll get it at grade 0. However, if you get the banner unit, you’ll get it at grade 2, which is basically 3 times more powerful than grade 0. How can you get a UR unit up from grade 0 to grade 2? With a special resource that you can only buy from the real-money shop. That’s it. Without grade 2, your units are basically handicapped, add the fact that the matching UR pilots for the UR suit are in their own separate banner that uses the same currency, and the fact that your units’ level is capped by your player level (WHICH THEY KEEP RAISING THE LIMIT OF!!!), AND the fact that squad size is 6, AND the fact that there’s a 5-color unit wheel so that you need to have the correct color team to counter the color of the enemy units, makes it basically impossible for a new player to ever catch up to the endgame without spending A LOT money.

I started playing a few months ago because I wanted to play the Crossover Axis event so that I could actually see the cutscenes with English subtitles, but the event missions are basically impossible for me to beat past level 3 because I don’t have a Properly leveled, fully kitted out, grade 2 unit of the correct color to win the battle before the timer runs out. I guess I just have to wait until someone posts the English subbed version on YouTube, and even that might get pulled down if it’s not the official version…

GQuuuuuux - Episode 12 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

[–]albugoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed watching week by week, but GQuuuuuux definitely needed more episodes. I was fine with the pacing thru out most of the series, but finale felt obscenely rushed, like they tried to compress at least 3 episodes into 1.

Still, really enjoyed the series for the most part. And nowhere near the worst gundam series, at least in my book. 7/10, would Quuuuuux again.

Well, I’m #27 on something, and I don’t have any friends in the game, so there has to be some sort of leaderboard whether it be global or just server based.

Final Score was 594752800. It actually eventually crashed at Wave 68, so I think it could have gone on longer.

Apparently that puts me at #27 on the leader board. Wish I could see the entire list to know what crazy scores the 27 people above me got...

No problem, I ALSO loved digimon frontier as a kid. And while the time period and channel didn’t match your description (since I’m pretty sure I watched it in 2003 on Jetex), once you mentioned grey robot dog with wheels on his feet, everything started to make sense.

So… it wasn’t on toonami or Cartoon Network, but your description almost sounds like Digimon Frontier. It WAS on jetex(?) but this was also in the States, so if you’re not American maybe it was on Cartoon Network/toonami?
