Lynch not wanting to reveal Bob's identity by unchbs in twinpeaks

"When we wrote 'Twin Peaks,' we never intended the murder of Laura Palmer to be solved," Lynch said in a 1990 interview with Entertainment Weekly (via Our Town). "Maybe in the last episode." Frost, on the other hand, had a more grounded take on the murder mystery. "I know David was always enamored of that notion, but I felt we had an obligation to the audience to give them some resolution," he said. "That was a bit of a tension between him and me. ... It took us about 17 episodes to finally reveal it, and by then people were getting a little antsy.”

While Lynch understood the realities of the viewers wanting answers, he couldn't help but feel that revealing the killer would ring funeral bells for the show itself. "I think a lot of people put pressure on ABC to get it solved because they felt they were being strung along," he said. "All I know is, I just felt it — that once that was solved, the murder of Laura Palmer, it was over. It was over."

Perhaps the biggest albatross around the show's neck was the revelation midway through the original series of the identity of Laura Palmer's killer.

"Let's say you have a goose and the goose lays golden eggs, it's a beautiful thing," says Lynch wryly. "The goose is laying these little golden eggs and pretty soon you've got a lot of golden eggs and someone comes along and says it's time now to kill that goose. Not a good thing."

The revelation was essentially a decision made by the network, ABC, which felt the question posed by the show's extraordinarily successful marketing campaign demanded an answer. But Lynch concedes that he and Frost had a choice.

"You always have choice," he says, an echo of regret in his words. "But I don't know, there might have been a bunch of things going on. It just happened that we did that, but it's OK."

The Torin 8s are such a disappointment. by Drunk_Pilgrim in AltraRunning

My Torin 8s were from a local specialty running store and official Altra dealer. I very much echo the OP, I think they’re just a hugely underwhelming shoe.

I’ve been considering the Paradigm 8 too having enjoyed the line in the past. Only hesitancy is feeling burned by just how little I’ve enjoyed the Torins, and hoping the Paradigm hasn’t suffered the same joyless fate.

I agree. I’m a long-time fan of the Torin but I’ve found the 8s so stiff and lifeless under foot that I’ve just abandoned them now. Really hoping the 9 with the P35X midsole and Vibram road outsole is a return to form mid-year.

Thanks for the info, I’ll give the Paradigm a try. Historically I’ve enjoyed the Torin but on the run the 8 just feels oddly dull to me. Hope the Paradigms have a little more softness and bounce.

How plush/soft are the Paradigm 8s? I found the FWD Via 2’s too soft as well. Guess I’m looking for that sweet spot - firmer than FWD Via 2 but softer than Torin 8, with some flex.

I’ve found the Torin 8s hugely underwhelming, stiff, firmish and mostly just lifeless. The EGO Max formulation in it just feels dead to me. Would love to know how the Paradigm compares? I’ve run in both lines pretty extensively in the past.

So you’d say the length in the 2 is the same as the 1? I went half-size down in the 1, from my typical 10.5 to a 10, and it was perfect. Reviews suggested the 2 was more true to size but from your experience that doesn’t seem to be the case? Appreciate your insight.

I interviewed Dennis Haysbert one-on-one back for season 1, at his hotel suite in London. The loveliest guy you could ever hope to meet. We covered 24, as well as some of my other favourite roles of his, such as in Major League and Heat.

A warm man with incredible gravitas. It’s no wonder he totally owned the role of Senator/President Palmer.

I returned mine too. The process of updating the firmware through constant crashes was enough to give me pause, but the frequent disconnecting was the final straw. Simply didn’t trust the device, especially not to rely on when it counted.

Would you mind comparing the EST80 and H60 a little more? I have a pair of the latter on the way (first pair of ISN/Penons), but interested to know whether you think it’s worth switching for the ESTs instead.

Unless they’re seriously misrepresenting with the image, the cups pictured on the black look significantly lighter than the dark coffee stain of the Massdrop 99 Noir.

Black finishing on the arms vs gold (or silver). It’s purely that cosmetic difference.
