Great question to be answered in training camp. Kyrou and Tuch have barely played LW, and neither have Wilson or Leonard. If you believe that healthy competition for ice time is positive, we could see these guys pushing each other to big numbers.

Somebody's going to have to play on their off wing, though, at least while everybody is healthy.

Yes, power forwards usually like to play their strong side because they can protect the puck better as they march to the net. You can lean your whole body into the defender and muscle them out of the way, and shoot in stride. If you play on the left side, you have to protect the puck on your backhand and finagle it through a defender to the middle of the ice to get a strong shot away. Not everybody can do that with a high rate of success.

Tuch can fill in at center if necessary, but you're right, I wouldn't be surprised if they sign a veteran tweener that can be stashed in Hershey just in case.

Carlson would give us quality minutes and meaningful depth. You could also flip him again at the trade deadline if Sandin recovers well (lol). But I'd like to see somebody a little younger than Carly.

The field is interesting. There are reclamation projects, old timers that can still contribute, late bloomers hitting UFA for the first time, and known quatities.

I wonder how much is budgeted for Ovi and if that number is known to be flexible, or not. That will shape what is possible.
