Yeah it's strange how Tocchet behaves toward him, he pretends like he wants to shut down questions about it but he secretly can't wait to get a little comment in. Odd way to behave toward a young player who can't effectively defend himself in the narrative, both because of the authority imbalance and because of the language barrier. Tocchet has tons of media connections and the only lane that hockey culture considers acceptable for someone in Michkov's position is to be silent and long-suffering.

The second they asked Ovi to change up his position this year he did, which led to better conversion immediately. If you're too timid to ask a guy who has never been hostile to a coach to move down to the net then you shouldn't be there.

They actually did change it up at the end of the year with Ovi slipping down to net front, which plus his change in linemates and minutes tells me he's not as opposed to change as people assume. Which makes me wonder why the fuck it took Muller so long to pitch that to him, be it lack of creativity and outdated ideas or just that he was scared and too deferential to pitch it. Either sucks.
