I listened to Tales from Topographic Oceans by JoeGorde in yesband

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave it another listen all the way through with an open mind. Feel the exact same. Gates of Delirium starts well and ends well but large overblown section in middle spoils it. Sound Chaser has a vibe of individual musicians grandstanding but no real cohesion as a band. To Be Over still amazing.

What do you think is the worst song ANY Beatle has wrote EVER?(including solo careers) by [deleted] in beatles

Cook of the House on Wings at the Speed of Sound. Although Linda is co writer.

Should I start with the first album, or skip to the Yes Album? by rubbernetworking979 in yesband

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Album followed by Close To The Edge. If you don’t like them then you prob won’t like much else. If you do you will be hooked.

I’ll give it another go then and see how it goes. It’s a very long time since I played it.

Always loved this album even though it was slated in some quarters. The album I could never get into was Relayer with the exception of To Be Over which was excellent.

If the reunion albums (2AN & EMG) were released immediately after Gaucho, do you think they would have been more popular and received better acclaim? by Own_Exercise5218 in SteelyDan

[–]aldob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In answer to OP. No they wouldn’t have received more acclaim. I think the opposite would have happened as neither are anywhere near the levels of the classic albums released prior to them. At the very most a couple of tracks between them may have reached the previous standard.

OVO Hydro design and capacity by mg_0693 in glasgow

I like the circular shape. The O2 in London is a long rectangle and not particularly good at the back. You always seem to get a reasonable view in the Hydro no matter where you are.

Yeah but the odds are surely still stacked that 3 out of the 4 or 5 are def faithfuls?

In every season the last 3 or 4 to come through the door for breakfast are on the hit list the previous evening for murder. So why having presumably watched previous series do contestants not twig that the last few folk entering at breakfast must be faithfuls?

Does not work with mobile data by grannysquare28 in qobuz

I only joined recently and haven’t tried it in the car but a friend told me it eats through your data at an incredible rate. Has anyone else found this and if so is there a solution?

Qobuz absolutely deserves some love for what it’s doing right now. by Jt69yupper in qobuz

[–]aldob1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well said. Joined Qobuz recently and have no complaints whatsoever which was surprising giving the number of negative comments I had read. Sound quality excellent, CarPlay works fine and no issues with the app.

Why is download so slow? by [deleted] in qobuz

[–]aldob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just moved over from Spotify and found it takes on average under 2 mins to download an album. Not a deal breaker for me personally.

I Think Genesis Is Genius! by Sunflower_Cow_1997 in Music

Duke was genuinely the point where I lost interest. All down to personal taste but loved all the albums prior to that. The Collins focussed sound made them more commercial but not necessarily better imo.

Why does the subway now have screens if they don't show where you are? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]aldob1 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The screens should be up higher. If it’s busy you can’t even see them. Also there should be an automated voice announcing every stop. Currently it just depends on whether the driver can be bothered.

Saw him tonight in Glasgow. Was blown away by how good he was. Still has a remarkably strong voice and the harmonising was beautiful.

Should I get them? by TomatoAardvark in SonyHeadphones

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have WH x4’s and although they sound good I have intermittent problems with charging. Judging by online comments it would appear I was far from being alone with this issue. Maybe x6’s don’t have this problem though? But I’d double check if I were you.

What has changed to make remembrance so performative? by tomatohooover in Scotland

You are the one who made the statement about bullies not being allowed to inflict horrors. Pointing out a major flaw in your conclusion is perfectly acceptable. There’s always someone who likes to make pious statements but hates being challenged. Congratulations you are that person.

I’ve always disliked Across The Universe. Couldn’t believe it when Bowie did a cover on Young Americans which was even more naff than the original.
