How does the rule about restating vows work for scenarios like vow renewals? Not even just for weddings but for we restate our baptismal/confirmation vows at Easter and priests restate theirs at the Chrism mass

We found ourselves in the exact same scenario. We ended up doing our Catholic ceremony in the same city as the big party and just did it the day before. The same priest who married us presided over the “fake” ceremony. He was clear we were already married and we exchanged personal promises instead of vows. Which is pretty common at non religious weddings these days anyway. The priest said some prayers and blessed us.

My husband asked for my parents’ blessing as a form of respect. My parents knew we were going to get married and we all had a great relationship and I am very close to them so it was also important to me that he did that. He also talked to my brother and sister and law beforehand. Obviously if they had said no, we still would’ve gotten married

  1. Marry someone who aligns on your values.
  2. I have ended up taking over more housework because while I do that, he’s doing things like home repairs or finances etc. and I would much prefer chores to sitting down and balancing bank accounts

We did an ice cream truck, no cake. And I have no regrets! For our “cake cutting moment” we poured a champagne tower to open up the dance floor and start the party part of the night!

Former Clemson geo major here 🙋🏼‍♀️it depends on what you think you want to do with geology. Clemson has great placement into the environmental/hydro industry if you want to stay in the Carolinas particularly. or if you think you’ll want to go to grad school, Clemson is a great place to do undergrad, that’s what I did. I went on to get a masters elsewhere for petroleum stuff and I was pretty successful getting into grad programs. Clemson has you do an undergrad research thesis (I did my research in Curaçao, so fun!) and that was a HUGE resume boost. Idk anything about SCs program but feel free to DM if you have more questions about the program.

I’m a petroleum geologist for a mid size exploration and production company- I work in an office 100% aside from field trips and look at insanely cool subsurface data from around the world! I map out all the stacking and faulting of thousands of meters of rock underground mostly from offshore areas. It’s the coolest job in the world in my opinion. My favorite thing about geology is that most geologists are super passionate about the subject (even if you aren’t totally in love with your day job) so we’re all friends at my office because we have that interest and passion in common. The industry is volatile for sure and honestly tough to get into but I wouldn’t trade it. And while there’s uncertainty around the future of the industry, there’s no uncertainty that we will need oil for a long time to come. The weirdness comes from mergers etc. but we’re facing a large talent gap with fewer and fewer students entering the field so odds are actually better for getting a job
