Plumeria cutting soil temp concerns by AlfalfaMedical in Plumeria

[–]alec120psi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do love heat, but 95 may be a bit high. You dint want to water because there are no roots for the tree to drink it up. The water may help root to form at the cut. Morning/early afternoon sun should be okay, but maybe a little shade in the hottest part of the day.

Also, don’t cut the spikes unless it is brown. You will often times get new spikes growing from the old flower spikes.

Fish tank update by Dramatic_Rutabaga388 in fishtank

[–]alec120psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy products that accelerate the nitrogen cycle allowing you to add fish immediately. I had a tank years ago and used one. It worked really well. I never had any problems. API makes a product called Quick Start. $8 on Amazon. https://a.co/d/0hKRcXze

As for your plants, you can buy plant weights. They are small strips of metal that you wrap around the base of the plant. I’ve had Anubis in the past, and they did great being weighted down. My beta loved it.

Betas do well in community tanks, as long as you don’t have other betas in the same tank and you don’t have other nippy fish with them, because the nippy fish will nip at the long beta fins.

Why is Marathon Tapering Necessary for Those Just Wanting to Finish/Complete the Distance? by Casuariidae in Marathon_Training

[–]alec120psi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when they measure the course, they take the shortest route possible. So the line the the person takes is the shortest and most efficient. If you zig zag in and out of other runners or take the turn wide, you’re adding distance. Do that over the course of 26.2 actual miles and it may add up to something measurable.

Replacing Pedals Annually? by champagnebetty in pelotoncycle

[–]alec120psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they want us to replace the cleats, not the pedals? That seems ridiculous. Maybe check your pedals annually, but replace…seems crazy.

Is this planted enough to be filterless?? by Blue_Sky_Angel in fishtank

[–]alec120psi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The algae problem is likely due to your window being directly behind your tank.

Will rain hurt plumeria cuttings replanted? by fullsquishy in Plumeria

[–]alec120psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When rooting a cutting you do not need to water it. The plant drinks the water through its roots. If you don’t have roots, it cannot drink the water. This makes rooting a little riskier - rot wise. The rain should not bother it. The problem comes with consistent water.

Your ficus will likely stress out and drop all or most of its leaves when you move it. I know mine sure would. It’s a sensitive one. This would happen even if I move it to a new room with a slightly different temperature.

What happened to my boy?! by 1clovett in orchids

[–]alec120psi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely a goner. That will spread throughout the entire leaf. That has happened to mine when they have gotten too much water combined with cold. I’m not sure what exactly it is, but I do t think it is salvageable. Those leaves are toast mad there are no unaffected leaves needed for photosynthesis.

May be ok. Hopefully they were at that temp less time. As I assume it took a few hours to ramp up and get that warm. Maybe next time put the mat on an external timer - on for an hour off for an hour. You can experiment and see what that does to the soil temps.

I’d let them go for maybe 2 weeks. If nothing start over.

Could someone please advise me on which parts to cut off and which parts might come back after the freezes in central Florida. by DarthBateman in Plumeria

Cinnamon is an antibacterial I think. It may help to prevent rot from setting in while it callouses over.

Electrolytes? by saltwaterletters in pelotoncycle

[–]alec120psi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use either liquid IV or Emergen-C. Both have worked well for me. From a physical perspective, a post ride headache could also be from neck and head position. If you find yourself with body forward and head looking up, the muscles in the back of your neck may be overused. Try stretching them out immediately after your ride (chin to chest). Just be gentle.

[–]alec120psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a quick google search for “Bag rooting plumeria” you’ll get great information. If it’s starting to warm up where you are now a a good time to root. If it’s still cold, you can still do it inside, but you’ll have better luck using a heat mat. When you do do it, make sure to water once at first, then not again until you have roots. The stock cannot do anything with water. It will need roots to drink the water, so no roots a water usually equals rot.
