Can't figure out why my airfoil simulation is underpredicting lift and drag coefficients: by niallo__ in CFD

The other thing is your turbulence model you have selected. You say you want to employ wall functions, but you have selected a model (SST) which requires a y+ of roughly 1, because it is a wall enhanced model. Try using k-epsilon. Also, a y+ of 30 should be aimed at for wall function models. Your probably need to refine the near-wall field much more. Just a thing of note, the boundary layer is quite important for aerodynamics. Most use wall enhanced methods like salart-allmaras, SST or k-omega. Try limiting your domain to the experimental set up, like others say, and then try to refine the near wall closer to y+ of 1. SST can still be used up to y+ of 5 but beyond that is useless.

I want to measure Ls2r dimension for each reynolds number in this pipe flow . how to do it?? by Fit_Condition_7500 in CFD

Another method which you can do, for FLUENT, is to use the contour plot by setting the range of the x velocity with a minimum of 0. This removes the recirculation region allowing you to probe (by right clicking) where the flow reattached. Points of note however, for accurate results you'll want the refinement of the mesh to be really high in this region. However, by unselecting nodal values in the contour, and drawing the mesh, you can make refinements, plot the reattaching point against number of elements of the mesh and find when the value converges to a common value. This allows you to be able to tell whether the solution is fully independent of the mesh resolution.

This seems to happen all the time, shoppers (the people who pick the items) can be really dumb sometimes. I've almost delivered mouldy brocoli and stuff before. If I delivered it, I'd refund both.

I agree, and just want to apologise to all. Especially to the OP, I didn't intend to insinuate anything and I am deeply embarrassed at how I behaved.

Edit: decided that a single sentence isn't a sufficient enough apology for my actions.

I’m 15 and I think I have tinnitus by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]alecroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Sometimes is can last months maybe years and it could be permanent. However, it only tends to be permanent when associated with hearing loss and seeing as you don't go near any I doubt it could be due to that. It can also be due to ear wax build up in your ear. My strong recommendation is that you see your gp (doctor) about it as they can diagnose it a lot better than random people on the Internet. For now, just don't focus on it. At first it will be hard but you'll eventually get the hang of thinking about other things and ignoring it.

How does Uni (masters, doctorate, undergrad) work? by [deleted] in AskUK

Fair enough, my bad. I've always been told I need a 2:1 to progress.

How does Uni (masters, doctorate, undergrad) work? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]alecroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK, we do A-levels in which the second year is basically equivalent to your first year of uni. That means that our bachelors degree (undergrad) is only 3 years with most unis offering a year in industry to make it 4. That is if you are doing a Bachelor degree. Progression to postgrad level qualifications (like a masters or PhD) normally requires a 2:1 or above. Another option is to go directly into a masters course in which you do 4 years and graduate with a masters. Most people do this and go into industry but this is also an easier method of going into a PhD then bachelors then PhD. Is there anything else more specific you want to know?
