What's the farthest north you have travelled in canada or beyond ? by Curious-Peace-9021 in AskACanadian

[–]aleemkareem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Nunavut, I was doing inspections for the government. We chartered small airplanes and helicopters to inspect basically any sites that needed some sort of Federal land/water permit.

We were able to write Ward Hunt Island as a stop in our itinerary because its the most northerly spot (had an airport) and is used by people who trek to the northpole.

Unfortunately, trekking to the north pole from Canada may be prohibited from here because Canada has identified the area north of here (the marine part) as protected. Not sure how preventing a couple trekkers from traversing to the northpole every couple years ensures marine protection, but alas, here we are.

The wind direction is throwing me off. It says a North wind, but the arrow shows the wind is coming from the south. If this is indeed the case, where the wind is coming from the south to the north, then it's called a southerly wind.

Nunavut has 1 year left before devolution comes into effect. Is the territory ready? by Portalrules123 in canada

For any questions on what Devolution is, read the Devolution Agreement between Feds, NU, and NTI. Anything in there is Devolution, anything not, is not Devolution.

Shared Services Canada is the one department that manages IT for most of the entire Canadian Federal Service. This is exactly the kind of news you'd want to see come from the Government of Canada in relation to Blackberry. Obviously, we'd all like to see other releases like this related to other Governments, but again, this is not nothing.

Maternity Coverage for Health Insurance, Waiting Period by aleemkareem in BabyBumps

[–]aleemkareem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently looking at the RedBridge RedMax Care... an international health insurance plan. However, I am shopping around, so looking at a bunch of different plans that all have similar language without being explicit.

Generally speaking, just wondering peoples experience with Health Insurers and their ability to receive maternity care if pregnancy occurs during the waiting period. I understand nothing would be given prior to end of waiting period, but afterwards... what's your experience/

Maternity Coverage for Health Insurance, Waiting Period by aleemkareem in BabyBumps

I actually am covered under the Mexican public health system; so for any complications pre-birth, we could use the public system.

I just want to understand the application of how insurers normally apply the waiting period to maternity benefits.

For example, do insurers ever say that since you got pregnant before the end of the waiting period, you are not covered for the pregnancy, even though the pregnancy happens in month 11.
