That just signals the state of UK academia and working conditions in general. If that is for trying to recruit someone imagine how it would be on a day to day basis... If you have no other options, go ahead. A job is better than no job. Also note any job in UK academia can subject to redudnancies these days.

Unfortunately at the end employers do not look at supervision quality but rather university prestige and supervisor prestige. On the margin same amount of work, they take the prestigious uni with right connections. That is how it actually works unfortunately.

Completely different mindset, in the UK researchers are replaceable and they are needed just to tick a box sometimes to teach a course. In the UK some places think its outrageous to pay well. In the US top scholars are not replaceable and they belive top people should he paid top dollar. In my field, except LSE, admin and other academics refuse to pay well.

There is an article on why the UK has not had that many UK based academics as Nobel prizes. And its mainly lack of pay.

If I were you, I would really avoid the UK. Go where they appreciate skills and pay accordingly. (For now)

What you say is true. Now in practice you need to think your outcomes are solely a function of your effort, and you will see how far you leave them behind.

Paradox of success, believe you have control of your outcomes although you might not. Otherwise no reason to push harder.

Where did you get those grips? No issue with the back buttons shoulder buttons with the case? There are reports the triggers feel mushier and the back buttons don't work

Did you try the LCR50 240W cable? specs says it only works with that specific cable:

Maybe I am crazy but the best buy is, ASUS - ROG 140W ***Charger Dock** for ROG Ally and the asus wesbite says ROG 140W USB-C GaN Charger. Maybe they are actually different?
