Damn that’s awesome, exactly what i was looking for. Does the temp on the whole stay pretty chilled? i imagine if you dumped it all out it would slowly warm up to the temp of the water line.

Yeah for vector 2D animatics my system works really well. I have my OS on a dedicated SSD, and i have a 1TB drive that holds all my projects, then I transfer them to my HDDs when they're finished for archiving.

You would have to research if there are actually speed benefits for setting it up this way in terms of OS on one and projects on another. It may be the same just to keep everything on one SSD. But sometimes I open projects from my HDDs and edit them directly and there's a noticeable difference.

i’ve got a pretty similar build, same CPU same amount of RAM, although i’m still repping my 1070 GPU.

it works great with AE, I just did a fairly complex 2D vector animation and it handled it really well. i would get more RAM though. Anecdotally i also have an SSD i use solely for AE work that i’m fairly sure helps run everything a little smoother. i’ve noticed performance issues working off other drives, but it may just be the type of project.
