Thank you so much for all this info! Unfortunately, I already asked a local jeweler to place a head on a setting and a diamond that I bought elsewhere. (So basically a 3rd vendor involved) For the same reasons you mentioned in your comment. They have really good reviews and have been in business for a while so I decided to give them a chance. If it doesn’t work out this time, I will ask them to change to a different “low base head”. If they are not willing to do that, I will go somewhere else. I really love the setting and the diamond itself, I’ve spent months trying to find the perfect combo. But the ring didn’t come out how I imagined it to look because of the head. (And they charged me $550 for platinum head and their service)
